As reported on ABC this morning, Greens MLA Deb Foskey has called on ACT Government shopfronts to sell CountryLink tickets when the Countrylink agency in the Jolimont Centre closes. This would save the OAPs the trouble of having to go to Kingston to buy tickets.

It'd take some organising, but I think it's a good step in promoting rail in Canberra. Especially seeing as Countrylink are trying to cost cut, would be good to see the ACT government putting in.

The staff and RBTU and Managemnet had a meeting on Thursday regarding CountryLink travel centre at the station. CountryLink want only one person to be in the travel Centre at any one time (So only a couple of staff to run the whole station), which is ridiculous considering the massive line there is when a train is ready to leave. I also believe Goulburn staff were in the meeting at Canberra Station also. This is what I was told by an onboard staff member on the day.

Why not also sell the tickets at Post Shops and/or Telstra shops.

You can order them online and pay at post offices if you don't have a credit card.

You can order them on-line, pay by credit card, and print out the ticket on you own PC printer.

Surely most people have at least one credit card these days. Virgin Credit is one of the cheaper ones as they charge no yearly fees.

A lot of people don't have a credit card. Anecdotal reports are that the majority of CountryLink Pay@Post sales have been ordered online from internet cafes and libraries, suggesting people who don't have home internet either.
