I heard on the Country Hour on ABC radio today that the Government has announced it will close (or suspend operation of) five branch lines that have been used for grain haulage. The only line I heard mentioned was Lake Cargellico. Does anyone know what other ones?

Actually this thread is a lot more relevant to the OP's question.

Mark in your diaries 26 March 2011 to vote out the current NSW Government. Who could do worse?

Thanks - should have researched the forum topics more thoroughly.

The present transport minister was interviewed on the program and stated the reason for the suspension of services was because of the low tonnages over the past few years. Don't they know there has been a major drought during this period? The decision means there will be hundreds more large truck movements over inadequate country roads.

Omar, the Cowra area is in a political seat that is not held by Labor, similar to some other non-rail stuff that the state government is set to close.
