I am responsible for the underpants and tomcat ones. I apologise if they have offended you, 574M, and if you choose to ask the admins to remove them, let them know you have their author's blessing in doing so.

I understand where you are coming from 574M and of course I don't mean to offend, but people in my generation 21ish year olds, "OMG" and less so "OMFG" are used in speech, especially by those in the 15 year old bracket more so now. more written than verbal but sure I've heard them in speech too, and they are used as more of an explanation than any offensive religious remark. I wouldn't call it toilet humour myself. Just like the S word has become all too common (for my liking, even though I'm in that "swearing" generation) It appears on radio advertisements and appears to go unnoticed or it is somehow allowed, even in primetime.

No-one is seeking to offend, well I hope no-one is, I guess it is just a sign of the times. I don't use it on here, as text/chat speak isn't accepted and I think it is dumb, but it does not offend me.

Not a stab or in anyway a criticism of you Mr 574M sir, I have much respect for you, but I think a lot of people could find many things offensive on any website, I guess you can't cater for everyone, but at least trying to avoid "OMFG" shouldn't harm anyone, and makes the site look more professional.

I appreciate the humour intended and - in most cases - obvious in our outage excuses. I supplied some of them myself.

Given that we are a respected and world-wide community, viewed by very many more people than we shall ever get to personally know, there needs to be at least a fall-back position of professionalism. This is for the admin team and our mods to determine and I trust them to do so.

Personally I don't like the OMFG much, nor the one abour Mr Greenhill's underpants ..... but that is just my taste. Others will disagree; some may not see any humour in nor be aware of the origin of quotes like "Computer Says Noooooo" (It''s from the TV series Little Britain). Many might not understand terms such as "WOLO" or "TLD™ went postal". It is sufficient to know that some humour is intended as not every joke or reference will ever be universally understood.

But the simple removal of the "F" from "OMFG" might appease some who find that particular reference singualrly offensive, whilst retaininng the essence of the message. Perhaps that should be taken on board. If the word itself were used it would turn up as "smeg" and the user possibly be warned, after all

So what you are saying is that....

"OMFG. My loan has been approved"

doesn't mean....

Outstanding! My Funds'r Granted. My loan has been approved? Shocked

It would seem I've led a somewhat sheltered life then. Sad
