All the flats (apart of the Long Blue ones, their CFCLA) are owned by/ or at least allocated to SRHC... they would be a minim of 50+ Yrs old at a guess...

Would be a good idea to go to Warrnambool line freight in Vic section and find about April 1st dated posts. i have photos up there as do others. mind you they were taken when they were still the rusty colour. there is also information i'm pretty sure about all the wagons orgin.

Rumour has it that El Zorro has put in an order for new grain wagons built at SSR Bendigo.
Also i heard a tender to be called soon to build new flat wagons.
Sorry if this has been reported before. i cant find it anywhere.

ElZ or CFCLA? I'd say there will be a big shortage of BG wagons if PN has moved a fair chunk of them to SG and northwards. PN are making life easy for CFCLA by creating new opportunities for them!
Mate, if that loco pulls as hard as you do, it'd move anything.
I'd still rather have an ALCo.

Thanks, that would be a former E wagon. I'm guessing it would be a SRHC one?
I noticed in a shot the other day there were some painted orange and were coded starting with Z.

A few numbers from my blury night photos:
VZWA 17
ZDXF 7J
ZDXF 4F
---
---
ZDXF 3T
ZFSX 12 K (end wagon, with the funny shunting float type bit - it's in the background of Junior's shot)
[another pass from the start]
CQRX 314W
CQRX 302W
VZWA 1S
VZWA 32A
VZWA 4
CQRXs are the 60 ft blue wagons (ex SFX or similar) the others are 40 footers of various heritage.

Oh - the orange repainting was done a few days into the Warrnambool contract. Before that they were brown as Junior posted.
Some shots from the Creek Sidings, February 2007, and North Melbourne wagon shops May and August 2007. Dunno if all the wagons are currently used on the Warrnambool service.

For more wagon numbers the V/Line Network Access pages should list who own what:
http://www.vline.com.au/pdf/rna/addenda.pdf
I'm using the September 2007 version:
| Quote: | El Zorro:
VZVA Flat, sleepers
Nos. 3, 4
VZWA Flat Rail Transporter
Nos. 1, 4, 7, 15, 17, 58 (Leased SRHC)
ZDXF Flat Concrete Sleepers or Rail Transporter
Nos. 1–24
(old code NOBX/NDBX)
ZEBX H.E.P Con.flat Rail Transporter
Nos. 1–16
(old code VFFX)
ZFSX Con. Flat auto sleeper discharge
No. 12
(old code VZSX)
CQRX (CFCLA leased)
Nos. 301, 303, 308, 309, 311, 317, 322
(old code VZRF, GQRX)
|
They also have ZQAX / ZQCX / ZQDA wagons (40 in total, the latter two types are ZQAX with different bogies) - but I have never seen them before...
