VZWA15Q is that a spoked Gibson ring wheelset????? if its a Gibson ring wheelset it should be stopped from running as those are banned Aus wide due to their being unsafe due to the securing rings tendency to move causing the tires to come off the wheel.

I'm fairly sure there is no BAN as such, but you do have to have procedures in place for monitoring the security of the gibson ring. Having said that though, I don't think I'd be using them in freight service.

Some track owners may have banned them but they are still being used in tourist railways and some freight services around Australia.

Experience, something you gain just after you needed it.

Don't look too hard - the V/Line Addenda referred to a couple of posts ago lists ###A vehicles as OK for 80km/h..... Question

It is sad that go ahead positive thinking operators are forced to use some of the junk that they do while PN cuts up perfectly good rolling stock simply to stop competition on routes PN does not want anyway. I suppose it is to do with their road operations.

Just waiting to see how long before a Train Examiner emerged. I don't think any major operators use these any more.

YM looks like at least one mob do with one wheelset, they should change it out as it would not be very hard to source one wheelset.

Lets get back to the subject shall we!

ELZ are running into Mallala again this week from northern NSW via Melbourne. They have truly joined the ranks of long hall operators covering a round trip of almost 5000 kilometers with these services.

Given that these trains are likely to run weekly for the next few months they must know want they doing. How about some credit where its due.
