Check out page 10 of today's Canberra Times. Interesting article about the "last run" of 6029 in 1975.

Cheers

The last run to where? as the Australian Railway Historical Society states.

Quote:
She was purchased by the National Museum of Australia in 1975 and placed in the care of the Society which operated it from 1976 to 1981. Ownership of the locomotive transferred to the Society in 1998

Read the first paragraph and the photo caption. That's the meaning of "last run".

3 carriages, what was that reporter on?! They are clearly visible...

Anyway, not a bad article.

Also been a few follow up articles. I don't know if this was the Societys (to try and attract some funding and interest) doing or the papers.

For those who seemed to have gotten the idea from somewhere that 6029 was under resto (*coughs*Clyde GM), heres proof it aint been touched..

For those interested, todays Canberra Times again has a small feature on ARHS ACT, this time focussing on the restoration of Pullman Car AL1040

Someone who can't tell 3 carriages from 15 a railfan? I doubt it.....

More likely the Societys attempting to draw in fresh blood and funds through a bit of free publicity. Not a bad idea, unless its done by people on their own accord, such as when our track manager appeared in it last year. He did an interview the week before the September(?) picnic train and said a whole lotta crap about 1210 and how it was taking this train out. Shame he didn't bother to ask the loco crew whether it was actually going (Which it wasen't, as it was under prep for the 150th).

That's not bad, 15 cars behind a steam locomotive, are all those carriages at ARHS ACT Division still?

No. I think some may infact be at Richmond Vale (the BOB cars), But we do still have a similar number avaliable.
