Just as a bit of an advance 'heads up' - here is a little about my next route:

I've worked on the Illawarra route almost continuously for around one and a half years now, and am starting to feel a bit 'burnt out' Illawarra wise - I don't want to stop any major development work on it until I get it finished, but I am now tending to 'switch' to my new route for a few days at a time - just to do something different!!!!

I'm creating the Sydney Tramways Lines on the North Shore of Sydney - this was a self-contained isolated group of lines not connected to the rest of the main Sydney Tramways system. The time frame I'm doing is around 1955 to 1958 - the first closures started in late 55 and it was all gone by the end of 58.

Starting at the Wynyard end (depending on how hard it is to do this very complex and highly detailed section, the route might only start at Milsons Point or North Sydney station instead of Wynyard) - the line then goes through Crows Nest to Lane Cove and Chatswood, extends up Miller Street then swings round past the North Sydney tram depot, to Spit Junction, where the line splits into several sections, down to The Spit, down to Athol Wharf, Taronga Zoo and Balmoral Beach. Also (if tile capacity allows - there are some VERY heavy tiles in this area), if I can fit it in without 'busting' the tiles, I hope to include the Mosman Wharf line (closed 11/55), the Cremorne Wharf line (closed 4/56) and the Neutral Bay Wharf line (closed 5/56).

All the main rolling stock is available - the Wynyard services to Lane Cove, Chatswood and The Spit (pairs of coupled 'O' class by Joseph Spinella), the cross-country services Lane Cove to Taronga Zoo and Chatwood to Balmoral beach ('R' and 'R1' corridor trams by Joseph Spinella) and the wharf services Athol Wharf to Balmoral Beach, Mosman Wharf to Cremorne Junction, Cremorne Wharf to The Spit, Neutral Bay Wharf to Neutral bay Junction (any of the above trams + the 'K' class by Tim Blythman for the Neutral Bay line). Then we also have Joseph's 'Ballast Motor", and I'll try to make a 'breakdown car' and a 'scrubber car' by using some other older 4-wheel trams and re-painting them (with permissions of course) and adding a 'FreightAnim' to add the necessary bits.

There is a reasonable scope for lots of activities over different paths with lots of AI trams, but as a tramway has no shunting, it is simply a drive from Point A to Point B type of route, so I'm having to increase the level of 'eye candy' to make up for lack of driver interaction. I'm aiming for release sometime in the 4th quarter this year for this route, as it takes 'second fiddle' to finishing off the Main Illawarra route.

As the route is very heavily 'street' based rather than railway based, I'm making a lot more custom buildings, especially shops, etc and many of these are taken from photos at various parts of the route for a higher degree of authenticity - I have the definitive book on the North Sydney tramways to help me.

Joseph Spinella started the whole Aussie MSTS 'thing' with his pioneering 'La Perouse' route, I'd like to give MSTS1 a decent 'send-off' with a another new tram route - however, I'm having so much fun with MSTS1, dependant on when its 'successor' is released, I might even extend it's life into 2009 yet!!!

The planning (or lack of to be more accurate) of mine dates back to late 2004. It was then restarted in early 2006. Probably be 3rd quarter this year at the earliest when it's finished and ok'd for release! Nearly 4 years overall for 300 kms

MSTS route of BHP Billton’s Mt Newman line located in the North of West Australia.

Working name for this route is BHPB_MAC

The route models the MAC, Yandi1 and Yandi2 load-out loops. These join the MAC/Yandi branch line which in turn joins the Mt Newman line at Yandi Junction. From Yandi Junction the route travels south as far as the Weeli passing loop and north through the Chichester Ranges as far as Redbank bridge. A few kilometres of the Goldsworthy branch the line as well as the Bing to Funicane Island loop line is modelled along with the Boodarie workshops and loco prep shed.

Sounds great superheatedsteam. A pilbara line will certainly be an excellent addition to MSTS.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say that I have failed to build my route "AU_NSW_Regional_And_Intercity" due to some things that I need to do such as building the models that have to go with it and I had to really think about the size of most peoples hard drives and the memory that they have on there computers so I am discontinuing this route because of these problems but don't worry I will build the full cityrail network promised...
