I've just compared a front view of 2819 on SG bogies with 2812 on NG bogies. There would seem to be a larger gap between the bottom of the coupler and the top of the removable part of the pilot (the black part) on 2819 compared to 2812. This would suggest that 2819 is sitting higher on the SG bogies than when it was on NG bogies. Perhaps this was necessary to bring the coupler up to standard gauge height. I imagine there wouldn't be any issues with 2819 fitting the SG loading gauge.

I'm fairly sure there is a height difference. There was even talk/rumour of fitting bigger fuel tanks to make use of the extra space under the loco.

It looks like 2819 has finally entered regular service, prompted by the loss of two ELs at Benalla. 2819-G534-EL52 hauled 3MB7 out of Yennora last night.

The leased GMs will apparently be restricted to Melbourne - Sydney meaning QRN needs extra motive power on the north.

Cheers

QRN has leased GM42 & GM43 from ARG.

Interesting that 2819 has been given load category L9, same as an 80 or X, due to its relatively low weight.

How does a 2800 look in front of a G? Narrower? Lower?

Now, I wonder how we can get the GMs restricted to Syd-Bris so the 2800s come down here... Laughing

QRN nust have leased them from GWA as ARG/QRN are the same company and don't have any GM's

Hand back your gunzelling licence! I'd much rather see the GM's down here (maybe with 36 on the head... )

That's an attention-getter!

I'm sure some reason of leaving the engine foul would be bought up who's wagons are they in the sidings anyway I have seen PN leave whole trains foul so they don't have to walk and block services on main lines this is only a yard with access from both ends no harm done just shunt from other end Idea
