Does anyone know if QRN are recoding their RQKY wagons into BQKY because this was seen at creek sidings on 8/6/08:

with the codeboard:

I thought this was just an accident until i seen this today RQKY2018 or BQKY:

which has the same markings.

Something dodgy here:

RQKY4280L is correct

BQKY4280L is not correct

If it is BQKY4280 the check letter should be S.

Even if it's QQKY4280 L is still the wrong check letter - it should be K

Ive noticed expecially on the AP1/PA2 and AM6/MA6 service more and more wagons are being re coded e.g. AQLY now QQLY. QRN first letter of their rollingstock is "Q" well on their container flats anyway on SG so it might be a mistake.

As emdCLP17 has said, QR Interail's gear is being progressively recoded to reflect the ownership (ie with a Q prefix).

Lucky bastards, they've got a heap of RQEYs!

Cheers

There is a TOC notice out on the ARTC website with all the reclassification codes on for what QR are reclassifying.

Cheers,

P.S. i don't know if i am allowed to post the link so people will have to find there own way there.

yeah just looked and found that RQKY 4280L is a part of the starter kit that was sold to SCT,no RQKY 2018 on the list,

they off loaded 116 RQKY's,21 RRKY's,58 RQMY's,8 RQWW's,4 RQXY's,3 RQVY's,3 RQVY's,30 RQLY's,20 PQYY's,5 RQYY's,5 RQWY's,

so might be a good chance SCT off loaded some wagons to QR,since they missed out on gettin the kit,

the RQKY,MY,RRKY are all the same tpye wagon,

Just to throw a spanner in the works, I was at Forrestfield yesterday, and noticed 2 recoaded RQKY wagons.
Their new Numbers were
QQJY 2073 A
QQJY 4294 F

Cheers

At least these wagons have the correct check letters and congratulations to QRN for having the good sense to retain the existing wagon numbers against the new classes.

Thanks. I had already seen them in their previous discuise with QRN.

I did try to google serach that ARTC info, but as an outside I couldnt find it, so will just have to keep my eyes open.

Im just supprised they used J, as from info I have picked up off here over the years, QR have some ex V/Line wagons already using the QQJY code, hence why K wasnt kept with QQKY wagons already going around.

My understanding is that there was a second starter pack from which QRN received the wagons from PN.

SCT got first go at the starter pack from PN and took what they wanted ie 9 G's, NR lease and mainly a heap of RQKY's. What was left over went to the next party which was QRN they took the rest some interesting stuff like vic 3packs. I'm suprised they didn't start recoding the wagons sooner as between QRN, SCT, GWA, ARG they own batches of the same wagons like the RQKY, AQEY, AQCY, WFDF, etc.

Mate, if that loco pulls as hard as you do, it'd move anything.
I'd still rather have an ALCo.
