"Occupation" is a bit generic but we don't have the capacity to conduct anything more than a broad industry poll.

Please nominate your occupation/industry as at 1 June 2006. If self-employed, please nominate your industry area.

No need to follow up, just vote.

EDIT: Added community services.

Cheers

David

what if you are multiple

and what if you cross over into another area due to the work you do (temperary subcontract)

Use your judgement. Whatever your normal job is or whatever takes more of your working hours.

Cheers

TheLoadedDog Minister for Railways

I ticked 'Government/Defence', but I usually tick 'communications' where it is offered.  Working for Australia Post, I am an employee of the Australian Postal Corporation (trading as Australia Post), which is a company that happens to be wholly owned by the Federal Government.  However, I am technically not a Federal Government employee.  If I'd worked there when it was the Australian Postal Commission, I would have been, but that stopped in the late 80s, when the trucks ceased having Z plates.  The Federal Government puts food on my table, but I'm not a public servant.

Sorry David but you left out the infamous "other" category, so where do I cast my vote if I'm a convicted felon serving time?

Not that I am, but then again, how would one know? Anger

Well considering that - in that particular case - the government feeds you, clothes you, provides a roof over your head, and pays you (however many cents a week prisoners get), then you would very much come under the "government" category Smile

Hmmm.... a bit ambiguous.

I am Computers/IT, but in the rail industry.

I would say for you "Rail Industry" then, as you are doing IT for the Rail industry, and not for the IT industry.

Nor is Pensioner, which is my (usually) sole source of income.

Pension aside, I is a secondary student, studying Certificate III in Business (Administration) at Marden Senior College.  This week, I did some paid work as an invigilator for our mid year exams and I will be putting my hand up to do the end of year exams.  Also, I am about to start a work placement, as part of my course, in the bookroom at school, which, he writes hopefully, may lead to a job, which would make me a public servant.  Shocked
