Well happen to get the latest avaliable Google Earth update the other day. Happy that the cloud over Launceston has gone. So here is 2 pics of...
The old Invermay Railway workshops. I have been there before but wasn't untill yesterday that i have been inside!
And the current East Tamar workshops.
Later on i will get Hobart rail yard, and if its good Devonport Yard. I can't get Burnie cause its still blury.

Lots of great new imagery!
There's a train at Coilers Crossing.
(search for "Kimberley, Tasmania, Australia" and follow the line east)
The old N-E route out of Launceston across Vermont Rd until it rejoins the Bell Bay line at Mayfield.

There's a lot of interesting stuff in the new hi res areas - e.g. most of the North East line to Herrick.
Hours of time-wasting to test Mrs Tool's patience.

It certainly looks like DP26. If it is, then it would have been taken around 11:30 am on 19 Feb 2005, given the angle of the sun (and the time of my photos of the day)
Regards,
Stuart

An area covering Stanley to Irishtown has been upgraded to high resolution. The Irishtown triangle and Wiltshire loop are clearly visible.
[edit] and an area including Guildford Junction. The alignment heading to Waratah is traceable.

It appears that a fair bit of the old Apsley Branch trackbed from Brighton Junction is visible in Google Earth

All of Tasmania is now in a high resolution. Some parts are clearer than others.
