G'day all,

Can anyone tell me where is NR8 is at the moment? I believe that NR103 is on a train at the moment between Kalgoorlie and Kewdale and should arrive here early tomorrow Morning.

Cheers

Couldn't tell you if I've seen NR8, but I did see 5 of them, yes 5, no less coupled together on a small train carrying what appeared to be just large rolls of cable, and one heavy wagon with a large beam on it.

I couldn't quite believe seeing 5 of them hooked together at Flemington this morning. One of them looked like it might have had Seatrain colours - though it was hard to tell since it was so blackened.

It's paint scheme DOESN'T look like the other Pac Nat liveried NR's, it is a one-off experimental livery which has a blue front & back, not a yellow front and back like the others.

Dont' know about NR8, but NR73 came and left Melbourne for Adelaide last Wednesday.

Sorry to go off topic but, 5 Units coupled together is a fairly rare sight. Those 5 NR's would of been on the front of a steel train. when 5 NR's are on it usually means 2 or 3 need to be taken back to chullora or wherever theyre based. A steel train usually on need 2 locos to pull it. The 3 you saw would of been idleing and acting as lead weights. If there is no train to bring in the driver and fireman will be instructed to couple up and take them back. It is against PN policy to have 5 units powering at ones. Apparently it causes unessasary stress on the couplings on the rear half of the train. However it is permited to have 5 units all powering inbetween lithgow and wenti falls (correct me if im wronge) a mate of mine has had 7 NR's once, however they were only loosly coupled Laughing for shunting purposes in chullora.

once again sorry to go off topic

regards

NR75 is parked up at Kewdale today with NR79. NR9 was also here, I think they spend a few days here once they come from the east, NR25 arrived on Saturday with the IP and then left yesterday (Monday) on a freighter, its interesting that NR25 didnt go on the IP on Sunday instead NR19 went instead.

NR28 led the I.P in saturday and left that arvo on 7PM5 (15/7) NR28/NR26/NR21 was the combo. NR27 was in Kewdale on Friday (14/7) NR25 came in sunday with NR111. 4 I.P liveried engines in perth over the 3 days.

I was in Broken Hill Monday - Wednesday.
NR73-AN5 departed for Sydney on Monday evening and the next morning NR8-DL39(?) were stabled in the yard. They headed off early this morning in the dark.

Just had a close look at my photo and it was NR28 not NR25, I got a photo of it at Daddow road, they would of had to fuel NR28 and do some maintance on it before it could of left to head back east.
