Was that just a plan or did it actually happen?

I think it actually happened. I'm not 100% sure though...

810 what sue?

Though I'm a waver of the red flag, to say it is all Connex's fault and that reverting to state ownership would cause all these problems to disappear in an instant, is just plain fantasy. While it would increase the accountability of the government, as well as give cost savings (if it were run properly); unless the current government attitude is altered - nothing would change.

A massive attitudinal revolution is really what is needed.

Just as a note, according to the 1980's metropolitan train plan, trains ran about 810 a day. These days trains don't run nearly as much. Connex don't care, obviously, hence they make excuses such as capacity works to make out that they are doing something. They can actually fit many more trains on the network, they just aren't doing so.

Anyway...

Connex run quite a few more than 810 trips a day these days.

Which metropolitan plan was this? What were the figures compared to? Where is the study? Do you have exact figures?

We need a world-class rail manager of the calibre of Ed Burkhardt or Chris Green.

Connex' policy where ever they run seems to be pretty much "do nothing and let it run itself" ......... sometimes it "runs itself" into the ground.

In fact considerably more than twice that number.

Just out of interest John, how many services are run on a daily basis?

Thanks in advance Smile

Notchy, you just asked her to do research.. Don't you remember, sue refuses to research or back up any of her claims. She self confessed to being "too lazy" apparently.... Facts Smacts.

Here is the exact quote;

Thanks for that John.

Just out of idle curiousty - could 810 services per day be either Connex North/South prior to the two halves being put back together?

810 would be about right for the former Connex system, but sueglossy was quoting something from the 1980s, which was well before the railway was split in two.
