Have you tried "Get Right"? - it allows multi threaded downloads (even for dial up it helps) and if you hold your tongue right - download resumes if you disconnect/timeout.

Sorry, I've tried both of those methods and it still doesn't work.

Ok. Next step.

Open Route_Riter.
Select Route_Utils tab.
Select Route in top left window.
Click "Confirm Route" button.
Click "Check Route" button.
After several minutes RR will present a report.
Cut and paste it here.

Gday Yuri.

I have got the same problem with "Train Initialisation Failed" message appearing while trying to open the route.

I tried both methods you outlined before, to no avail.

I have all 6 default routes still installed.

I tried the RouteRiter method you have there, and it comes up with this message as soon as I click "Check Route":
"An error 429 ActiveX component can't create object occurred in subroutine 'Command80_CLick' please advise xxx@optushome.com.au with details of operation being processed."

I have also installed the newest NewRoads and XTracks.

Thanks in advance.
Pete.

EDIT: I just re-installed X-Tracks and NewRoads, and X-tracks came up with an error message saying that there was a newer version of TSection.dat on my machine than was present in the X-Tracks download.
The route is still not working though.

Thanks, Pete.

Thanks for that, got RR to work again.

RR came up with 'No Errors Found' in the report, however, I still get the "Train Initialisation Failed" message when I try to open up the route.

Thanks, Pete.

Let's try to get to the bottom of this:

This is what should be in your GSM/ENVFILES folder before and after running the installme.bat (13 files = no change):

This is what should be in your GSM/ENVFILES/TEXTURES folder before and after running the installme.bat (17 files before, 24 files after )

What have you got?

I have all 24 in the GSM/ENVFILES/TEXTURES folder, and all 13 in the GSM/ENVFILES folder, cross-referenced on your list that you have showed.

Thanks, Pete.

I got the "Train World Initialization Failed" error message when loading the route.

It was caused by having the "Textured Sky" setting in the display options unchecked.

I put the X back into that little box and am now enjoying this fantastic route.

Thank you very much - that's a great catch Rock 'N Roll! Rock 'N Roll!

I just tried unchecking and sure enough, the route failed. I've now updated the download page on steam4me to advise other visitors.

GSM uses Kosmos environments so of course you need textured skies (sigh - nothing like 20/20 hindsight Very Happy ). And that's why contributors who copied from older non-"textured sky" routes such as Football "solved" the problem.

Excellent tip, Bonm.

Hi All,

Just want to add my $0.02 and say a big THANK YOU to Russell and all others involved with this great route.

I believe there are many of the non-whining variety who really do appreciate the work that has gone into this.

Also didn't have a problem with the installation (as always from Yuri's site)

Top shelf all involved, I dips me lid to yas.
