Has there been any indication of what commuters can expect on Tuesday when the new Translink takes affect?
I suppose it will be business as usual for the time being.

From what I have been told nothing will change. QR could operate quite successfully without TransLink.

131230 will now be manned 24-hrs 7 days a week rather than the limited hours it operates to now, that's the only major and immediate thing. They will apparently be much better able to coordinate bus timings between different operators with a new combined scheduling system. QR won't be affected much until the restructuring.

To be honest, a call centre open 6am-9pm 7 days a week plus all night Friday and Saturday is hardly limited hours.

Ticket inspectors on peak hour trains - never thought I'd see the day. They boarded the 7:25am ex-Robina at Beenleigh the other day, and had a good 35 minutes to check three carriages of tickets. They needed most of that time to get through the train with the number of fare evaders! And was it ever entertaining!
One woman claims the machine was broken at Ormeau and no staff were there to help. TTO jumps on the mobile, "were there any staff at Ormeau this morning? Yep? Thanks!" With a nice wide grin, the TTO starts writing a ticket as the woman starts crying loudly and causing a massive scene.
Many savvy commuters who got away without touching on their Go Cards in the past and just flashing the card at inspectors were caught out as they had the portable machines with them.
And a couple of businessmen tried their luck at pretending to sleep, the TTOs had no hesitation in continuously shaking them again and again until they gave up and copped the penalty.
The excuses were flowing thick and fast on TP19! I wish they were onboard more often, it makes the trip so much more entertaining.

Is that TP19 the one they call the Bombay xpress?
It is quite amazing how many dishonest and deceitfull people there are out there, which is often witnessed when the To's go through a train.
I believe that if a person deliberately fare evades, they also have the criminality to committ other types of crimes such as shoplifting and fraud.

QR is proposing renaming Brunswick Street station to Fortitude Valley station after the upgrade is complete.
What are your thoughts on it? You can also voice them to QR following the instructions on the website.

TP19 arrives in the city at around 8:40am and is one of the last wholly commuter trips before the day-trippers start to take over the trains.
The biggest surprise to me were the types of people getting caught. (And the lady in tears, that was just pure entertainment)
As an aside, it is often easy to forget to Touch On the go card at ungated stations. On a trip only a couple of weeks ago, I was distracted by seeing a friend on the platform and neglected to Touch On. Of course, the one time I forget, TTO's with machines are on the train. Thankfully they were lenient with me after I admitted I forgot upfront, saw I had $105.00 credit loaded on the card and that I had registered 6 trips in the previous two days, the last of which being the night before 11 hours earlier.

Well, it's two years down the track and the Darra extension has not materialised. It's still not 15 minute frequency on weekends to Corinda. It's still 60 minute frequency on Sundays before the 8:11am service from Ipswich and 60 minute frequency Mon-Thur after the 10:06pm service from Central.
(Warning - rant follows)
The busses which run between Indooroopilly and the city often have most of the seats taken for that part of their journey. God forbid that a train should be run between the City and Corinda with less than 1/3 of the seats taken. If a better service were run, they could cut down on the busses and/or get more people on public transport.
And what about consistent timings? Can't trains leave Central at either :05 and :35 or :06 and :36, not the mix of these times which applies at the moment. I also especially argue with the timing of the 4:51pm Ipswich to City weekday service. This should be 10 or 11 minutes earlier to prevent a 27min gap in the timetable in the peak.

I've noticed some cheap modifications to the signals at the north end of Caboolture station. There are now four lights, not three.
Something to do with the dual track?
