And nearly on the subject, a shot of the SAR 500 Diesel please, if you're still beta testing it, as I saw the loco on Steam4me before, not released yet though.

One question, guys - is a 7 hour activity ie Overland to/from the border, really a proposition, or should I pull the plug? Further, if in fact we do get to meet at the border, is a 12 hour activity a viable proposition?
Are you actually going to play that? Heh, he.

Hi Allan,
As far as Tailem Bend would be just great, BUT,,,, seeing you have now gone to Tintinara which is just a tad short of half way to Servy, probably best to press on, that is if you do feel up to it, then its finally done to border.

Anyway, to do a bluebird run from Servy to AR is a 5½ hour run stopping at stations, even using a freight myself I'd have to spell at TB, but that just adds to the realism. Freight crews worked AR to TB and TB crews worked to Servy and rested, so leave AR then save activity at TB and then pick up the train next day or whenever onto Servy. Melbourne overland express passengers will just have to bed down for the night at TB, while I have a noddy. (realistic cheapskate private rail operator, not good old SAR.) Laughing

12 hours in one stint at the screen myself I'd be a cot case and the missus would dong me, or head for the Mulga. Laughing But same time would be a great trip from AR to Servy even if one took several goes at it. So if you truly feel up to it, then why not go the full distance, your near halfway now.

While I'm posting here I'd like to say your Adelaide route Allan is just a fantastic effort, a real credit to you. Your Adelaide route is tops, I'm probably a little biased being a retired ex SAR shunter. When I get the time I now only use and run your Adelaide route. It is great to relive those great days again.

Tailem Bend would be fine, but to Serviceton, be icing on cake.

I'd use it Allan. After seeing a couple of those gallery screenies I can see that the Mallee type vegetation in the route will be something that hasn't been done before in MSTS and will be worth downloading just to get a look at it.

The south line has that virtually non stop to the border from at least Murray Bridge, and with the detail you put in the middle of nowhere last time, should make it interesting.

Still on the SAR, is anyone interested in the old Roseworthy - Robertstown line (via Eudunda) for MSTS? I have a fully demexed 1960-ish version of the Gawler line and if there is enough interest, I'll think of extending it. I have a gradient chart and yard diagrams, so accuracy isn't an issue. I am just after expressions of interest, nothing in concrete yet.

I hope that you don't mind me adding this suggestion, but one thing that I wouldn't mind seeing in a future version of the route is a bit of tram track out the front of Adelaide Station (if it existed historically)so that the user can drive trams past Adelaide station and see what it looked like from out the front. Just an idea.

All of your work has has been nothing less than excellent Allan and I hope your health improves.

Thanks
Geoffrey

Thanks for your responses and support, guys.
Geoffrey, the Adelaide and Port Adelaide tiles are at maximum, and to add something, I have to first delete something. I have however, extended the Glenelg tram line right into Victoria Square, and my beta testers are thoroughly enjoying the full line now, with proper stops and a lot of other work put in including all the buildings in Vic Sq that are still available to build - cathedral, MLC, GPO, Torrens building, Law courts, Moores, Trims, hotels etc. I might pop a few pics into the gallery when I get sick of miles and miles and miles of trees and roads, trees and roads. Gaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!! Heh, heh.
I do welcome ideas to make the route more enjoyable, and endeavour to build in whatever I can for you.
Regards
allanl

I finally got our SA road map out of the car and it was only that I realized how huge this is becoming. By road, Tintinara is 192kms away from Adelaide and we are still about 95kms away from the border. Allanl, you deserve a bogie award for most dedicated MSTS builder! I may get the map scanned and show those not familiar with SA how far we have gone but that won't be 'til later today. Wish you best of luck with making the border. By that time, we would be 291kms from Adelaide!

Hi 409,
Hmmm, that far is it - Crikey! I know I that have planted at least 05 million trees and probably have another few million still to go.
I now have a gallery with Fotopic and the link is
http://pics-by-allan.fotopic.net
Copy it into the Address bar of your browser. There is a map of the route in there and a comment made today was " the tail is wagging the dog".
I have built 6 new buildings today that currently exist in Coonalpyn and Tintinara, so we are progressing.
Regards.

Hey Allan Just A Question Will The Tramline Have Electric Wires Put On It To Make It Look Good Or Not Just A Little Question?

Cheers

Just wondering what's going to be happening about the Finsbury station section? Is it going to stay as it is or is it going to be extended at all? It would just be nice to see a little bit more of Adelaide's ordinary tramways.

Also is it possible to include trolleybuses? Even if there's just one shown as a static object. Just a suggestion.

One thing that I really do like is the Victor Harbor horse tram. A great addition.

Keep up the great work.

Thanks
Geoffrey

Looking great Allan.

The water pipe line sth of Tailem really gives it away as to where it is.

It is a Sydney R1 class tram. It is quasi realistic since 1971 is in Adelaide at the moment (St Kilda Tramway Museum). The famous H class which do the run will however be relased in due course thanks to transadelaide.

This is very exciting!

Thanks, Allan, for all the pleasure you have given already with Version I. I'm looking forward very much to the new release. Talk about beyond the call of duty!

Sorry to hear that your health is not good right now. I hope you will soon be completely well again.

There is at least one important item of SAR rolling stock that is not available yet: the maroon clerestory passenger carriages that were used on the Adelaide suburban routes, mainly behind the Rx and F class tank locos. These carriages came in two types (as far as I can remember): the basic ones and the baggage cars. Of course, we do have the similar green and yellow ones, which were the first class counterparts of these second class carriages. But the maroon ones were also center and end loading, so a repaint would not be enough.

Geoffrey: there were trams outside the Adelaide Station, i.e. along North Terrace. Very many streets in that region had lines.
