Hi all, just got home from a holiday in Tasmania and have a few questions?

At Rocky Cape we saw a green guards van beside the road in use as a bus shelter.
It was of steel construction with guards duckets(side window look outs) and doors on the sides and long vertical windows in one end.
Two more steel vans were seen at Railton and one on the bridge at Bridgewater(Hobart) but they were of a different construction(plated Comen eng)

Any photos of the vans in service and there use please?

I think the one at Rocky Cape is the body of a EBR XV van, while the other two are ex AN "GV" vans

A definitive article on GV vans was in the September 2002 issue of Tasmanian Rail News. The were built in the early 1980s and didn't have a very long service life. The XVs were older - early 1970s with the bulk concentrate wagons, but I don't know how long they lasted - early 80s maybe? Certainly gone before Hellyer opened

One GV body does still exist on rail and is used as a riding platform for trains in the Bell Bay area.
