Hi All,

The Viclink signage program has commenced at V/Line stations, with the first station being 'Viclinked' being Drouin:-

Along with being Viclinked, Drouin has recently undergone a major refurbishment with the bricks of the station building itself being rendered and inside the station being revamped. It has not yet re-opened to the public, with tickets being sold from a temporary ATCO hut structure (as they have been these past two months).

Photos of examples of all Viclink signage fitted at Drouin can be seen at:-

Would a moderator like to sticky this thread to keep track 'Viclinked' V/Line stations???

Sorry to say this, but that signage is just hideous, especially with the purple. The purple will fade eventually

All solid colours fade sooner or later.

That's why the the current white background signs look the best! No doubt, this is the result of another expensive consultancy ExclamationLaughing

You should see the 1980's Vline orange station signs along the Mildura line Exclamation  A sad and sorry state they are, that reflect the faded, run down and unkempt look of most of the old passenger stations Sad

Mike.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. 80's. *drooooooooooooooools*

Must go for a drive up to Mildura once I finish Year 12 next year - stop by at each station and get some shots!

Don't worry, we'll be up to a less active signage rollout by then. Perhaps it'll be called VicTrans or something. Maybe V/Line. Or VR. Or something that only a government advisor could come up with.

Don't think I should have started guessing.

I wouldn't be too worried about the colour chosen for the signage.  At least the Govt. is finally spending some money on proper station upgrades!  From Matt's pics it looks like the Drouin upgrade is a lot more than just a fresh coat of paint.  Any updates on the other stations that are being converted to parkway status?  And please keep the pics coming.

Regards

I personally don't mind the purple.

It should probably be a bit darker, but other than that no complaints.

What I don't like is the V/Line logo, as seen in some of Matt's great pics. Now that makes the signs look putrid.  Rolling Eyes

Is the purple meant to coinside with the new V/line logo with the purple in it? It does look an odd colour for a station sign

Purple has been used as the colour for regional trains. Just like blue for trains, orange for busses and green for trams. Check out some of the Metlink signs at somewhere like Newport, or Clayton. They have a purple strip for directions showing where Regional trains depart. Maybe V/Line based their new logo around it... or they planned it a while ago.

So is this signage going on all Victorian stations?

I really do NOT like the purple. They should've gone with Metlink blue, but maybe that's just me...

As much as Id like to have an open-minded approach to this, I must say, that looks revolting. Apart from being an in-appropriate colour, I don't think it really fit in with small country stations like Dingee or Stratford.

I hadn't thought of that. It really won't fit in at many places. Especially if they put lots in, it'll make the actual station look bad where clearly the 6 signs are  much better loved by the goverment than anything else there. As much as signs are nice, they'll look incredibly out of place

In my opinion the purple is ugly. They should have gone with the dark blue colour that was used for V/Line services on the old Metlink/Viclink sites.

Personally I think it looks not too bad, although the old signs were fine as they were.

It's starting to grow on me... i think it's an aquired taste.... That said, I agree with you, the vline signage was better.... maybe the new signs could have been done in a more vline oriented colour?

Look the the Vlocities: purple = V/line. Razz

I wonder when the sign coulour was decided on? The first purple Metlink signs I saw were back at start of the year, compared to the other mode's colours apperaing in use much earlier. So perhaps the Vlocity has something to do with it, and perhaps that also explains the new logo.

Humm 75% hah!

I'd say all stations from the Suburban Boundary to say the RFR Target Boundarys of: Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo & Traralgon will get the Viclink Treatment.

Stations outside this boundary will remain W/ VLP singage I hope!

All the VLP Singage on the Warrnambool Line beyond Sth Geelong is only now 2yrs, I month & 12 days old! Would seem a waste of our taxes to go pull it all down & replace it this early!

I thought that the purple colour was only for the velo's? I didnt think it was going all over the franchise?

I think that this is 100% MetLink/VicLink...

Just look at the name under the sign. What colour does (check name) use on it's website for Regional Victoria?

I have to agree with jarf here. The purple looks shocking on these signs, and would have been better off in blue (or better yet, just leave them as the white V/Line signs).

The new logo doesn't help either.  Mad

I am not sure why VicLink didn't go the way of V/Line colours for the station signs.....red, white, and blue looks so much nicer than black, white, and purple, and would tie in with V/Lines corporate image quite nicely.
