4x of the Alson Comeng trains have been Authorised to run on the Connex South lines, so as to fill in for the shortage caused by the Siemans trains, and the breaking problem of the Siemans trains.

They are authorisded to run until the 1st of December.

Already there is a thread on a spotted set operating on the Cranbourne Line.

**** I ASK YOU TO POST.....

+++Each time you see an Alstom Comeng on any of the Connex South lines, including
---- The line it was on
   ---- Where it was spotted,
---- The time of the spottings
--- What are the numbers of them

+++If you have any idea of possbile rosters of which they may run
I would love a ride in one on Connex South lines.

notch... ease up Wink

What I dont understand, the units are cleared to run on the southern lines.... why stop and ban them after the stock shortage is finnished? There must be a small excess on the EDI fleet, if they can just hand out a few units like that.

Also, long shot, could connex have seen this one coming, and this is the reason why the Hitachi's have remained?

Cheers

Why weren't they cleared for everywhere running immediately after Concorde finished?

I saw four Alstom Comengs come from the south side at FSS at the end of peak this morning, they were all terminating at arrival. Evil or Very Mad

Any sightings on the Northern Group?

Aren't all Comengs cleared to run everywhere? If so, whats the hold up? I want to see them running on the Northern Group.

I believe the Comeng trains are yet to be cleared to run on both sides due to the fact that the cabins have not been standardized across the network. This is a union directive.

What's different about them? I would have thought it woudl just be the CCTV and PID controller
  Stu49 Junior Train Controller

Some differences are:
No A side wiper on North side units
Terrible OJT seat on north side units
Van area seat removed and replaced with large box for Pids equipment on north units
Booster fan switch set up is different. On/off toggle switch on north units timed momentary press button on south units
Location of toolbox, first aid kit, Atw's different

As long as they have the required equipment, what does it matter if the seats/first aid kits are located differently? As long everything is easily located and shown in a memo, it's not like it's that hard to find.

Can't any driver drive any train? Or are the unions saying that because the drivers aren't used to them running on that side they will forget what sort of train they are in?

After Concorde they both have Integrian TC-100's.  The Alstoms units have retained their original Cameras and PIDs though.

I didn't get the numbers

But around 2:30 I caught an Alstom 6 car comeng from Melbourne Central - Broadmeadows -then back to North Melbourne.

Quite an interesting trip.  I also saw another set At North Melbourne heading back to the city, but i think i must of come from Werribee.

Yep that is correct I rode it on the 5:09pm Up Sydenham from St Albans and rode it back to Flinders Street then it formed the 5:44pm Down Werribee and I rode on the Up Werribee where it later shunted off at Flinders Street. Photos will be up at a later date

Hi,

On the weekend it seemed that 6-car Comeng running was in force on the Northern Group.

Right now I spotted a 6-car Comeng on the Upfield line.

I friend of mine who works at Greensborough station said that they are putting new Blue & Yellow strips on the Alstoms to make them look reasenable. This is another thing which is happing before the hole fleet (Comengs) can run system wide.

I've noticed that some of the them have got new strips - I think a mix of sun and the harsh graffiti removal chemicals, were wearing away at the vinyl or whatever else they were made of.
