I take it the installation of a new guard-rail wreaked enough havoc to shake the foundations of this poor old bridge?
...or maybe a car did it and the guard-rail is to stop it from happening again?

...any chance it'll hurt plans for the Michelago Tourist Railway?

Shouldn't hurt any plans as the line still runs half way to Michelago (It stops at Royalla currently). And this is on the Queanbeyan to Royalla section. Only thing I can think of is that if the bridge is found to be in un sound condition and needs to be removed and a new one built, that could stop trains operating for a few months while they re do it all.
