******** BROADCAST OF DANGER WARNINGS ******

We need to have a system of whereby warnings can be broadcasted over the Railpage Australia™ web site.

This is for the same form of message, about wether warnings of which the Weather beauro gives out to radio and TV stations, Railpage Australia™ needs to be one of those who will recieve those messages, and to then Broadcast them over the Railpage Australia™ web site.

We need to get all messages, where they are to be a danger to any part of Australia and/or New Zealand.

One needs to only make use of the existing moderators broadcast feature.

How about an anti-trolling device? Ie, you cannot use a hotmail\yahoo\gmail address for signing up, only a ISP provided one.

Sorry, that won't be happening. The ratio of legit users to trolls who use free email providers is very much in favour of the legit users.

If you remove the smeg filter, can you put in place a user customisable language filter? So that a user can decide what words if any to filter?

Also, I'd like to see the quote system changed. In another forum I frequent, if you quote a post that contains another quote, only the new text gets quoted. This avoids posts containing a squillion nested quotes. Would also be handy to disable quoting of pictures.

One more thing I'd like to see is the ability to see more than 15 posts at a time.

I also have a suggestion, just not sure if it's been asked yet. What about automatic refreshing of a thread in an open window? That way the less motivated ones of us don't have to click the refresh button so many damn times. My fingers hurt.

And I would like to second Kafoopsy's suggestion of viewing more than 15 posts at a time. Most computers these days can handle a lot more than 15 heated (and lengthy) Jom/Mjja/SoaG posts.

Now's a good time to stop talking I think.

Not sure how this would work, but perhaps some way of ensuring that when an image is posted, it is a small size, rather than a size that causes the horizontal scroller? Alternatively, regardless of image size, perhaps a 'text border', where the text is within certain boundaries at all times, regardless of where the image is?

Also, will RP3 have a different internet address? Or will RP2 vanish, and later be replaced with RP3 on the same address?

I'm thinking we'll go with this option. Images will be automatically resized to fit insize forum posts, and will link to the full-sized copy.

I've already said this twice at least in this thread: the address will not be changing

I'd like to request a new sub forum entitled 'Railways Media'. This would encompass any discussion or news concerning rail publications (eg Railway Digest, Motive Power, etc), the newspapers, video (eg DVD, VHS, youtube, commercial TV, etc) plus audio.

As can be seen, it's a wide field of discussion that deserves its own place on these forumboards.

A good idea I would suggest that this would also include railways in books and films and even fictional stories like Thomas the Tank Engine. Very Happy

You understand the idea well there, Geoffrey.

However, although I never mentioned Thomas the Tank Engine - there's no reason why you shouldn't bring up his escapades within such a forum ... if that so pleases you! Smile

Slightly larger avatars.

100x100 rather than 80x80.

Maybe 25kb for a size limit as well.

Alright, another idea:

Can we make the events calander comaptible with Outlook Express and linux/etc. equivalants? How about making it popup if you open a page on the website within (say) 24 hours of the event?

I'd like to see a slight modification in the search feature. Usually when I'm looking at a particular forum and I click search I then have to select which particular forum I have to search. I would like RP3 to just assume that I am searching the forum that I have just been looking at unless I request otherwise.

Thanks
Geoffrey
