I couldn't see them shipping over any existing class 66. Wouldn't be worth it. If they went for new-build loco's, then they'd probably be built locally by EDI (if they continue their trend of buying EMD). Though, I'm always open to correction!

But, to be honest, I'd love to see a class 66 outline on Australian metals.

Photographic comparison in my post in the above thread.

CL66 also run in mainland europe with some modifications.

I noticed the exhibitior list for the upcoming rail trade show not long ago and there was no Freightliner or related entity listed as an exhibitor at the time I saw the trade show's website

Other than QR its is rare for any operator to turn up at AusRAIL - if that's the exhibition you are thinking of.

Freightliner are still very much looking at opportunities over here.

The Tassie guys pointed me to these images of old ZB's in WA with what appears to be a variation of Freightliner's livery

Any expansion of Freightliner in to AUstralia could become more complicated:

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Bahrain-based investment bank Arcapita is expected to take over Freightliner, Britain's second-biggest rail freight operator, in a deal worth around 350 million pounds, including the debt it will assume, the Financial Times reports.

Arcapita is currently conducting due diligence and the deal is expected to close within about two weeks, the paper said, citing people familiar with the situation.

Freightliner is currently 76-percent owned by a consortium of private equity investors 3i and Electra Capital Partners.
