Greetings all!
Our wildest dreams have come true! Fang has been retired, and replaced with a shiny new server more than capable of running Railpage.
Now that we're running on a new server, we've also fixed the mail server problems that've dogged us recently
To all the websites hosted by Railpage: if you find that your website is experiencing problems (be it completely unavailable, or mail issues, etc) then send an email to support@digitalriver.com.au, and it'll be tackled by a member of the Digital River support team

Awesome! No more outages! Great work guys.
Will the gallery be migrated onto this new server?
It's more than capable of running it.

Guys, this was a massive job. I would like to thank Michael, Drew and the RP teeam on getting this site migrated to new and very powerful hardware. I think the worst of the downtime is now behind us.
A yes, the gallery is back online! ( I think)
Michael I am sure will update all of us when he has completed the large number of tasks he is working on.
Regards,
Brian

Congratulations! ![]()

When did the new server arrive, and what did you have to do to get it all together and working?
How does it feel to be on the new server?
![]()
Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111
Do we get to see a piccy of the new server?
AND,
What are we calling it?
Has it been named yet?

Great work everyone. I'm looking forward to more uptime the new server will bring
It has nice specs too!
Will this server be getting a name as well? ![]()

Well done guys, thankies ![]()

Is it? When I go to http://www.railpage.com.au/g.htm I get "Sorry, this Module isn't active!". ![]()

That's the best news this site has had for a long time.
Not nitpicking or anything but Hitachi man seems to be correct about the gallery link

YAY!!!!!
PRODUCTIVITY HAS GONE OUT THE DOOR IN THE OFFICE NOW!!!!
Thanks so much guys for the fantastic work!!

The gallery has been moved onto the new server, yes. All data is still there
However, there are some incompatabilities between the version of Gallery we're running (1.4.4pl2) and PHP5 (which we're now running).
There are several paths we're looking at taking with Gallery. It will be coming back, in one way or another ![]()
(PS - Gallery flies on the new server
)

The server arrived on Friday morning. It was installed in the rack on Friday afternoon.
RP was copied over on Monday morning, and set up over Monday/Tuesday.
I (along with Holty and Lionel) have spent the last two days sorting out bugs and getting it to a workable point.

Wheres locopage.railpage.org.au gone?

The remaining sites should come back later today. They are coming back one by one.
Regards,
Brian

Read the last paragraph of my threadstarter ![]()
Fang (as we knew it) is no more. This means that every site that was hosted on Fang (Locopage being one of them) is now in the process of being moved over onto the new server.
I am on holidays right now, and as such I will not be touching them till Tuesday when I return. Somebody else at DR HQ may ![]()

Nope. The site is loaded, I am having some issues with the vitualhosts file.

Thanks team for all the hard work in getting RP back together again. ![]()

It's back now. There were some missing directories for the virtual directive in the apache config.
Enjoy the new server guys. Michael and I slaved our proverbials off to get the beast up and running for you ![]()

Slower than the old, but it seems to work now...
Haven't been here for a few weeks. It's been down, I'm assuming the new server was the cause?

Skippidy Doo Dah, Skippity Day .............
Welcome to RP2½
and thanks to the Team for everything. See you across the forums.

Oh no !!!!!!!!!11
Railpage is back, and we have to all get back to work ! No more moderator holidays for us ! ![]()

Great work guys. And reminder for the non techy posters that the hardware is the cheapest part of any major upgrade - it is the counntless hours thes guys have had to throw at the project that has been the real cost.
Yes the server is a key cost, but think of the man hours put into it. A very expensive project done for the sake of a hobby, good on you all for the time, and giving up a lot of it that could have allowed you to have a social life, as well as more paid overtime in a "real world" jobs.

( to me it was back about 2.30pm)

Actually, I did it on behalf of your hobby. What is paid overtime? I have heard the term before but don't think it can be real ![]()
Enjoy guys. It's a nice feeling to at least know our hard work is appreciated. That and keeping people here at DR happy with their train-fix ![]()

*edit* come to think of it, what's a social life? ![]()

Congratulations to all the guys who worked on the purchase, installation and commissioning of the new servers. A job well done.

Guys,
I don't know how many unpaid hours have been put in, but it is certainly appreciated from this quarter.
I did see a couple of midnight times float around.
Did you know you can now record your sightings in our new Sightings module?
