Of all the boxes I have worked this old girl was the best and its a shame it was let go,the 48 lever 30 rotary switch frame was a pearler and the place was gunzel city with everything hitting the one place reguarly.

Sorry to tell you but Chullora Box is gone, not a trace left either.
The North Fork (single line) is now concrete + 60HH rail (as of Easter this year) and not a semaphore in sight.
When was the last time you viewed the Chullora Branch as it has gone through a few changes.
RIP Chullora as we knew it (here I go ranting again)

I think the removal of the up north fork was a cost cutting measure but it also reduced the options for the signaller, espeacially to clear the up main.

The old double junction had two diamonds which perway do not like. The new leaner junction eliminates these diamonds.
Should there be any justification for putting the double track around north fork, this would no doubt be done without any diamonds, leading to an improvement of the layout compared to what was there before.
The desirable elimination of the diamonds was paid for by the elimination of the double track around north fork.
If you hang on to facilities containing undesirable components just because that is what has always been there, then improvements will never be made.
As another example, the elimination of a diamond at Moss Vale by two ladder crossover makes it possible after resignalling to terminate down trains directly in the Up Platform number 1, which is good for flexibility.

Trust me it is not planned in the new working either .

It only "eliminated" 1 of the 2 diamonds at Chullora Jtn West as 1 is still there.

The original designer of West Jtn left no straight track that would have allowed a crossover to replace the second diamond.
Also eliminated 1 diamond at North Jtn.
At nearby Sefton Park Junctions there are 4 diamonds. The one going from Birrong to Regents Park has such poor geometry (the track itself is in good condition) that there is a 10km/h speed limit, even though the sharp 200m curves themselves are capable of 40km/h. Not enough care was taken in designing these junctions in the first place.
