Matt,
That was excellent.
Yes, Great Western.
How did you get the list? It isn't in VicRoads directory. I spent half an hour zigzagging up every street while driving to Mannum (SA).
IIRC, amongst other achievements, Cubitt was the designer of London Kings Cross station.

Open slather has brought continuity to the thread, and it falls to you to keep going.

Great Western or Lethbridge - both have streets with related names!

The surname Cubitt - from William Cubitt, who was consultant engineer to the South Eastern Railway from London to Dover and for the Great Northern Railway from London to Doncaster.

Other streets nearby - Stephenson (George), Brunel (Isambard Kingdom), Rennie (John), Locke (Joseph), Thomlinson - all seemingly important in the development of railways in the UK.

Can't be Lethbridge as its spelt Cubit not Cubitt.

I must say an interesting spin on the whole whereisit idea.

Here is the full list of street names which I recorded at Great Western in June:
Cubitt St
Stephenson St
Brunel St
Railway Rd
Locke St
Thomlinson St [I haven't checked the relevance; IIRC tram couplers were Tomlinson]

Paxton St
Cemetery Rd
Rennie St
Fisher St
Paterson St/Rd
Bests St/Rd

I had remembered (wrongly) that only the names of GWR engineers had been used. I did publish photos of Great Western Hotel (Great Western), and Great Western Hotel (King St, Melbourne) to mark the 150th anniversary of GWR. The one in Melbourne was formerly Victorian Railways Hotel. IIRC, there was also a Great Western Hotel at Orange (NSW). The Queensland one was Western Railway Hotel, which did not perpetuate GWR as such.

At the ceremony at the grave site during the Geelong & Melbourne Railway 150th anniversary celebrations, the officiating minister had had GWR forebears, and drew on the nickname 'God's Wonderful Railway' as part of his speech.

Sorry all for the delay, have been busy elsewhere.

You've got it!!! Smile

Earlier this year, whilst chasing the R to St.Arnaud, was waiting outside of Ballan at that location, located near a bus stop, when a gust of wind came up and the car door was open - my circular on the seat!

Thankfully there were multiple copies in existence!

You're turn Les.

If it was Inglewood, you would have guessed it in 30 secs.

But it isn't so you haven't!
