Just happened to notice on SBS while channel surfing an ad about level crossing safety. Scenes shot in Western Australia (I think)... consists of a woman walking her bike across a pedestrian crossing behind an EMU (again, I think) and getting 'struck' by NR103 (I think once more) solo on a freight in the opposite direction and a kid chasing a ball down the four-foot getting 'struck' by an ARG/QRN/whoever loco. From what I could gather there were shots of NJ's or similar beasts on hoppers towards the start of the ad.
The special effects used seemed rather 70's/80's though.
Anyone care to tell me how horribly wrong I've got all that?

SA not WA... back to railway school I go... |
There is another one on YouTube with the rest/another ad, about cars and level crossings, using the same effects.

There is also another one in NSW about pedestrians using the road crossings and not the designated pedestrian crossings.

These ad's have just started appearing again today in Adelaide, I assume to coincide with Rail Safety Awareness Week.
On a related note, the boy that is 'hit' by the ALF in the first ad (Jack) was a friend of mine from school.

I assume he is in fact alive... "Still"
I feel it also time for a "Trucks & Trains...Ddon't mix, so don't try it" Ad as well, some footage of the K183 Accident @ Benalla in Vic, Soulsby Accident with the Bus & The Ghan in SA & the most rent one, the Kerang Accident showing the ripped open carriages in graphic detail are needed to educate just not only Car & 4WD drivers but Truck / Bus / Roadcoach Drivers also...
If "QUIT" can produce some of the most aggressive "Ghaphic" Ads on the effects of Smoking & N.S.W R.T.A can produce some of the most distrubing "Graphic" Ads, I've ever seen, on what happens when you speed & lose control or micro sleep behind the wheel, so can the other follow Road Transport State Authority's, in educating Road users on what happens when a car collides with a Train or a Truck slams into the side of a passenger train...
"A vote for Labor means no more of Howard's bullsh*t

Don't use K183 - steam is not typical of the risks, I think a typical passenger or freight train is better.
You don't want rail's enemies concluding the best way to reduce the risk of running into steam excursions is to not have any.

All comes down to Human Error, I hate when people just fly over level crossings like they don't have to be careful.
And then people will try and blame the trains
I still wounder why the gov is still so keen on trucks over trains when they see how so often, trucks have mess with trains over and over again.

So these ads are playing in NSW? If they're filmed in SA, what organisation made them?
