It's school holidays. Three car XTrap started running under the new timetable on Sunday. Why does it take until Tuesday for someone to post about it here? ![]()

I wouldn't get too excited. More flexibility to run 3 carriage trains probably will mean more 3 carriage operation of trains during shoulder peaks or even peaks on the Alamein line.

When should we expect to see 3 car Siemens

They were running 3 car XTraps at 9:30am into Flinders Street - if you hang around Camberwell in the middle of the day you should run into one. ![]()

Highly unlikely.. seeing how much hot water Connex is in with "crush loads" running more 3 cars on high patronage line is only making the problem worse!
But with this in mind and sort of answering your question do the line really need a 6 car operations for a short line with many connections tram services into the city running near this train line..
Especially for a "shuttle" service between Camberwell and Alamein
But you're concern with peak service doing the 3... but like i said above with crush load...

Yeah the Alamein line is one where 3 carriages of peak and during shoulder peaks is acceptable. However, during peaks it is not normally good enough.
However, as for other lines, another type of train being available for breaking into 3 carriages probably can't mean that there are less options for Connex in running 3 instead of 6 carriage trains. As many folk know, some of the 3 carriage running that goes on isn't exactly appropriate.

One expressed empty through Flagstaff Platform 4 today, on an empty car movement. While I was waiting for a DOWN CGB.
Another was at FSS on a DOWN ALM.

Three car Xtraps are indeed running the daily Alamein shuttles

yeah i seen on Tuesday and Wednesday.
the 5.50 Alamein and 5.58 Riversdale, a both 3 cars , the set comes into Flinders St and Splits.

A three car XTRAP ran the 18.49 down Alamein from Platform 6 at Flinders Street.

I've been seeing alot of shoulder-peak PM Glen Waverley services leaving Flinders St as 3 car X'trapolis last week and this week.

didn't expect to see a 3 car xtrap set at Alamein. Will they be forever xtraps on weekends or will there still be comengs?

Id imagine X'Traps will mainly run on the Alamein line now since they are the newer model train. However time to time a Comeng will run the shuttles.

I took my 8 yr old son for a bike ride from East Camberwell to Darling today along the rail bike track. Saw an Alamein train at Burwood and my son had a go at me - "Dad, you told me that X Trips (what he calls them) can't have 3 carriages". He's heaps more observant than me cos I didn't even notice at first...

Each night bout 1/4 to 6, there is a three car Xtrap to Alamein from Flinders Street. I can now say I seen an Xtrap be divided.

6 cars come in and divide, 3 cars run to Alamein, and 3 cars run to Riversdale.

3 car Xtraps off peak and weekends on the Alamein line, and after 7pm on the Lilydale, Belgrave, and Glen Waverley lines.

Have there been any 3 car xtraps in revenue service on the epping or hurstbridge lines yet?
if not, is there any particular reason why or is it a case of that's just the way it is! ![]()

When that movement was done by Comengs, the sound of the air being released at point of seperation used to brown the pants of about 100 people on the platform!!!
Did you know you can now record your sightings in our new Sightings module?
