Yeh, sorry wrong use of wording Embarassed

I'll change it to reason?, sorry, that was just the first word that popped into my head, I do realise its a fact of life that trains to get delayed etc...

The only time I have EVER been annoyed by it was at the bottom of the fly-overs at Central...stopped in a packed and smelly Tangara after a day out behind 3830 and 3830 I was exhausted...

They say things happen in 3's and today was definitly a case of it for the NS, firstly the fatality at Lindfield, and then not long after trains were moving on the up again past Gordon the break down also at Lindfield on Platform 1.
Then a sick passenger on a down service at North Sydney, all in all by about 11:30-12:00pm things were mostly back to normal.

Thats the problem with Lindfield, is the terminating road is a dead end. Gordon has way more flexibility in that regard, with the ability to get to the centre platform from any direction.

Yes very true, might take a bit of reconfiguration work, but if they could make Plat 2 at Lindfield bi di would help a lot.
Looking at it this way at least trains could be turned around at Lindfield so that was some consolation there, just not much help for those heading up the Shore from Killara and areas North.

.....and wasn't it a howler of an interruption, too Exclamation Made all Illawarra & ESR running very pear-shaped indeed Neutral

I first found out about it, when I went to take over 313 run at Central @ 2259. First time that I can remember being faced with no road on pl. #25 Shocked We didn't get out of there until 2321.

When we got to Sydenham, we had to wait some more, as there was already a train in pl. #6.

So when we got onto the platform, initially we were to be passing Wolli Ck (running us on the local, obviously). As it happened we only had to divert onto the local a little way; they were able to put us back on the main just before Tempe station.

It appeared that the handbrake had failed in an Econovan or something like, and it had rolled down a dead-end street, taking out the fence at the end and winding up sprawled across the Up & Down Main.

As 42101 so aptly put it, something different....

Our 8 car Oscar (6.22am Port Kembla to BJ) apparently had mechanical problems this morning and was cancelled. Didn't take long ......

Anyone have any details? This has been the first hiccup for a few weeks so hopefully an isolated problem.

You can imagine the following V-set was chockers.

But isn't there two? One arriving Central at 9.01 and another at 9.10?

Town Hall station is a zoo - totally wall to wall people, not coping at all with the delays on the Illawarra.
Thank goodness for the 5.42 from Central!!

Trev, if you think Town Hall is a zoo (I presume you're talking from an observer's POV), try to imagine what it's like for the people who work there Shocked

Yeah, it must be frustrating sorting out the chaos when something throws everything out of whack. The queues at the top of the escalator to platform 4 was a worry when common sense would say get to Central and then catch the train. Platforms 1&2 were normal.
You almost need staff with bull horns in the crowd itself as no one seemed to be listening.
  Blackadder Chief Commissioner

Location: Not the ECRL
Pax not listening, really no suprise for those that work on the Platforms  Wink .
As for them using common sense to get to to Central and get the train, didn't you know they have to get on that train regardless of how crowded it is Razz . (especially applies to late trains when there is a service following in 1 minute. Laughing )
