Interested to know what happened. Did someone commit suicide on the track, was it an accident? I'd imagine they'd run 2 buses, 1 all stops and another express to Marulan and Goulburn.

Also, Countrylink are saying that the Xplorers are terminating at Moss Vale for "operational issues".

I was on the train in the first carriage. We had just left Goulburn station heading to Sydney. The train had just started to gain speed when suddenly I could hear the train horn. *edit* The train had then stopped suddenly and a train driver had come out of the 'driver's room'. He then left the train. After a few minutes he came back on and announced a fatality. The police, ambulance and SES were called and after waiting for 2 hrs on the train, we climbed out and had to walk along the tracks until a coach picked us up. *edit*

I know that crossing well, and it's a pretty safe one, with good visibility from the direction the train was travelling.

Be pretty hard to get hit by accident there.

EDIT: - Apparently he wasn't actually on the crossing, but on the tracks a few hundred
metres north of the crossing. God knows what he was doing there....

I was on the train in the front carriage Passenger2013 describes what happened. It was quite disturbing. However, thanks must go out to the ambos, the SES workers, countrylink and police for keeping us informed and safely getting us onto buses.

There is a link to Goulburn Post http://www.goulburnpost.com.au/story/1292661/tragic-death-on-goulburn-train-tracks/?cs=181#disqus_thread which has up to date information on what happened.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the person and family, the train driver and the service workers involved.

All Lines except Illawarra, Carlingford, Olympic Park, Southern Highlands and Hunter- Major delays

Trains across most of the CityRail network are stopped after a fire safety alarm was activated at the Strathfield Signalling Complex. Trains on the Bankstown, Inner West, Airport & East Hills, South, North Shore, Western, Northern, Blue Mountains and Newcastle & Central Coast lines are affected. Passengers are advised to delay their journey. Services are being stopped in both directions on the approach to the Strathfield Signalling Complex while emergency services investigate the fire alarm which has forced the evacuation of staff in the complex. Train tickets can be used to catch Sydney Buses and Veolia bus services and Sydney Ferries services across the city.

Unfortunate how there was a 'fire' at this centre of 'behind-the-scenes' controls.

Cityrail Network - Major delays

Trains have resumed across the CityRail network after being stopped earlier due to a fire safety alarm being activated at the Strathfield Signalling Complex. But trains on the Bankstown, Inner West, Airport & East Hills, South, North Shore, Western, Northern, Blue Mountains and Newcastle & Central Coast lines are delayed up to 40 minutes. Passengers are still advised to delay their journey. Train tickets can be used to catch Sydney Buses, Hillsbus and Veolia bus services and Sydney Ferries services across the city.

While unpleasant for staff and passengers stuck in the thick of it, at least it seemed to be a very 'orderly' delay. Every line just seemed to grind to a halt at almost the same time, and then when services resumed there were no cancellations or transpositions (as far as I'm aware).

Nothing on the CityRail website at the time of writing, but this is the second thing I've heard about an issue at Wollstonecraft.
