Im thinking that was taken from Mortdale MC and in the background is the bowling club and single lane bridge. the train would be on the up. Its been over ten years since i have been there though.

....I believe I can positively identify which line 8179 & friend were on, and which way they were headed at the time....
I had an idea that I might have taken the pic on the Banko, somewhere between Belmore & Marrickville, and was standing on the platform of whichever station, looking at a train on the Metro Goods line - hence my rejection of flathog's guess of Guildford (which is wrong anyhow, but that's by the by). Sorry if this led you all on a big guessing bumsteer
However yobboford has identified the surroundings beyond a doubt, they all fit. Mortdale Bowling Club, the Boundary Rd overbridge, it's all so clear now
I was standing in the little "recreation area" (that you can see if you look up at the right moment as you pass by in the train between Mortdale & Oatley) just below the booker-on's office at MMC. yobboford is also correct in stating that the freighter is on the Up.

well here is one i took a few years back, i think its pretty easy but then again i grew up there.

Was going to do that, but I couldn't be bothered. Should of though and just left the train and the flyover in the background as a clue.
Took that while waiting for the train to Woy Woy. Ended up missing the dam Wyong one cause my South Line train got held at a red signal. There was a 2 minute change over of two trains at Strathfield, but then when it stopped I got nevous. I then looked out the window and at that moment the four car V set for Wyong {which I need to get to Koolewong} rolled by.
Was hoping to beat the Nothern Tablelands XPL for a photo up there, instead it now a "where is it"
Crap morning that was, started off at school for sign out day (not that signing out for the year is bad, the thing was I had to put up with the runts from my school for the last time )
Anyway, Take it away 42101.
