NYE Train 31/12/07 - 1/1/08

Hi All,

For those who are interested, the ARHS is once again running the NYE trip ex CBR to Sydney on 31/12.

As done in previous years, the train's departure is ex Cbr at around 10am, and into Central at 5:10pm, with a return departure ex Central 2am on New Years Day arriving into Cbr at around 9:30-10am. (Check precise times per the ARTC TAA's and RIC STN's).

There is also a side private trip being organised for the 'privateers' associated with the ARHS ex Central at 6:15pm, up to Katoomba at 8:30pm, and back into Central around 11:30pm, which will be the two BAMs on the Sydney end.

The consist is likely to be around 17 Cars, and should be something worth photographing (if there are any gunzels out there who choose to motocade this particular train), at this stage, the weather appears to be good for NYE too.

From the Sydney end:-

BAM1748, BAM1741, BHM1738, BAM1743, BAM2189, HN2198, RFN1739, TDS2247, RMS2360, NAM2374, NAM2335, LAN2348, NAM2341, LAN2372, LAN2351, MHN2366, PHN2381.

For those who know me, I generally choose to avoid posting on RP these days, but thought that as there is no other thread on this train, it would be worth posting as it is quite a big train and worth seeing for those who may be interested.

Just to add the extra spice of incentive to photographing this train, the locomotives scheduled (at this late stage) are:-

SL90, WL95 & WL96 - 44204 and 42220 (FL220)
HL93, HL94 & SL91 - S317 and GM10

Did anybody get any photos that could be posted on this site?

I would have been good to be crew, but the UK is a long return trip.

I happened to be in town the day the train left, and I just managed to get a couple of rushed pics as it was leaving. not very good ones I'm afraid , but better than none.
I also was fortunate to see the morning Canberra train cross with SSR locos S317 and GM10, heading back to the big smoke, at Queanbeyan. Dont know what they were doing there , but I suspect they may have bought the NYE express back to Canberra.
