Sorry guy's I have completely stuffed up my route that I was building
AU_NSW_Regional_And_Intercity because I saved
a piece of track were it shouldn't be so I have
desided to build just the full Cityrail network as it mite be
easyer for me to build and maybe later on I will
continue to build the route but until then I will work on
this one

Lines it will include

Eastern Suburbs & Illwarra line
Bankstown line
South and Inner West lines
Airport & East Hills line
Western line
Carlingford line
Olympic Park Sprint
Northern line
South Coast line (To Bomaderry)
Southern Highlands line (To Goulburn - Jupper Junction)
Blue Mountains line (To Bathurst)
Newcastle & Central Coast line
Hunter line (To Dungog and Scone)
it will also inclued the loop lines
Mittagong to Picton
Moss Vale to Wollongong
it will also inclued freight and tram lines
Enfield marshalling yards
Rozelle Goods yards
Botany Goods yards and many more

If this thread somehow gets locked well I won't be able to release my route

Im happy that you plan to build such a huge route, and if you did get away it, it would be an immediate and huge success (I for one would love to see such a thing done), however (and no offence ment by saying this because Im not doubting your abilites) isnt going for the lot in one shot biting of a bit more than one can chew - with this in mind as well as usual time contraints, etc. do you plan in implementing the route in stages, or just as one bundle? Also because the route will be so huge & detailed (another option is to possibly release the basic route, and then include the detailing in later patchs - similar to CTN), and because of this, this will use a whole lot of resources (both MSTS & system resources) such as terrain tiles, Computer RAM, HD space, etc.
Also there is the tug of war between past & present - you have mentioned Cityrail in the title of this, however what era/decade do you intend modelling as either past or present it will still look good none the less (even though some of the best railway arcitecture has since been removed Sad ).

Anyway I hope you can answer some of my questions mentioned above. Good luck with this.

MerryChristmas to all

This route isn't going to be in parts it will be in full because I don't know how to do patch files such as the ones that Peter Newell
has done for his route CTN, My route will be based on
todays era witch will take time I am hopping that I will
be finished before 2009 so it can be an eary release Very Happy
but we will see first it depends on afew things
I would need the Sydney harbour bridge todays version
and in full and loads of stations put it this way it's better then
what I had before that would have been over 4000 stations
and sidings witch would confuse me in alot of ways

I won't be using anyone elses work just to let everyone know
I will be using the files that I already have
plus the files I have downloaded from the Steam4me
and Train-sim.com sites

There is only one routes shapes that I will be using
as I have written permission to do so from NY Subway
and I have permission to re-skin stations if I need to
but I still have to get more permission from
the other people who also helped Fred to create his
route NY Subway

I won't be using any other routes shape files as it caused
problems before in my thread AU_NSW_Regional_And_Intercity
so these people can have my word on that

*Sigh*

Please do not speculate on a release date this early. You will send yourself crazy!

There was this area in my route that I thought I could get finished in two weeks. This was calculated from the time it took me to do this one 10 km section. It took me more than 6!

Later on, I got the same idea. 5 and a half weeks later I was still pussyfooting around with what I thought I'd get finished in 2 weeks.

Eventually you will find yourself needing to take a break. This usually becomes evident after you take 4 weeks to do 25 kms of track in the middle of nowhere. That will set things back more.

Phil,
I agree with all the others, your ambition is way to high at the moment.
Might I make a suggestion and for starters you build from Liverpool to Yass Junction and see how you go then you can always do a version 2 and continue from Liverpool into Central or do the branch to Crookwell or even branch off at Moss Vale down the escarpment to Woollongong.
Cheers

Spot on ARG706, Phil seems very good at contradicting himself.
I was also wondering why he wouldn't be able to release his Route if this thread gets locked.

It seems to me that building a Route, and talking about it on a Forum, are two completely different things, and not dependent on each other.

Sorry
forgot

Good on you Phil.
I just hope you kow all about transition curves and grades.
If not it will end up looking like marias pass 1.
If you are in for the long haul , you have to learn the hard stuff.
Actually thought about a route that you might be able to do.
Yass jct to Yass.
If you get it right might take 6 -12 mths.
You can extend you're empire from there.
From what I have seen so far, now Have you got that ticket machine the right way up and in the route after 2 weeks?
Time flys Phil does'nt it?
I'm sorry mate , we have seen it all before.
Just ask our good mates , Nazarail and trainboy John.

Allright Phil if you still want to go ahead and do the impossible , who am I to
say it is impossible.
Looking forward to this route maybe in 2030-40 maybe.

Mate it's not going to take that long to do to answer most of your questions I do have the Cityrail ticket machine and I do know witch
way is up Very Happy LOL. But I do need a small version of the Cityrail ticket
machine put it that way I won't fail building this
route I have almost everything ready and to be honest with
you I do have the curve & gradient diagrams all 4 to be honest
with you and also to be honest with you I don't know how
to read any one of them even when Peter Newell has told me
how to understand them but it makes no sence to me at all
I am using markers mate
