I was recently asked about the batch of 3800s on order for PN Queensland. Everybody seems to agree that Siemens will be building them, and that the first batch will be slotted in between the two QR orders, but does anyone have any idea of how many will be built in the first order?

If current theories are correct, PN will number them in the Freight Corp series, so they should be numbered from 8701 upward, which at least won't conflict with any QR loco number series.

I believe there are 20/25 locomotives in the first order for PN Coal.

3707 and 3708 arrived by the ship the former Labor Federal Leader Kim Beazley would like to forget the 'Tampa'.
The PN version should be just about right for testing at Allach if it has not already started.

Wow, the lowest number after 7100, recently moved from Thirlmere!

That is smarter than using the second half of a diesel series as the NSWGR did twice.

For what it is worth, the current issue of "Motive Power" includes the following details for the new PN locomotives;

GT42CU-ACe as 8301 to 8313

Siemens Electrics as 7101 to 7135

That would give:

Four diesel trains each with three units and one spare, and eleven electric trains each with three units and two spares.

Any PN class unit could act as an additional back up for the diesels, of course.

Thanks, I would be willing to bet the Toowoomba boys will see her coming down the range today.

Do you think two days travel time is reasonable?

Oversize load, daylight travel only, 80km/h speed restriction. I would call it 3 days minimum to there.

Thanks. It would be a very slow trip down the range with a 126 tonne load, I imagine.

The 3800 Class on #Y243 were QR 3807/3808.

G'day guys, is anyone aware of where I could get line drawings of either the 3700 or 3800 locos? I am looking to build n scale models of them but are unable to find much reference material on either of them.
