Having just downloaded Gmax 1.2 I have been following a tutorial on how to make a simple loco
I am tryin to texture a part but am having trouble because this tutorial dosnt seem to be working with the same version of gmax i have.

here is the link

http://www.vmbollig.de/msts/tut_en/construction_2/construction_2.html

Anyone with gmax might know that i would have to take diffrent steps as in the tutorial..

Any help?

I did have this same problem macey when I had Gmax installed but I don't have it anymore. Anyway you can find the texture tab logo on the right hand side of your screen, you will also notice that there is a line just click and drag that with your mouse ("Left & Right" or/and "Up & Down" depending on the Gmax setting you have) and you will also find other tabs and the texture tab there

You don’t need to take any different steps in this tutorial, in fact you have to follow them step-by-step from start to finish. The only things that are out of date in that tutorial are the download links for gmax and the Trainsim game pack for MSTS.

As you have not provided details as to what specific problem you are experiencing it is hard to determine what the issue is.

My best guess would be that you are having a problem with applying the textures, possibly due to you not having installed the Train sim gamepack that customises gmax. If this is the case then it implies you did not start the tutorial from the first page and work your way through or skipped bits. That would be unwise.

The game pack has additional files that allows gmax to display and apply the ACE texture files to your 3D models and then export your 3D models into the .S file format that MSTS requires.

After installing the game pack you will need to use the icon that the Train Simulator game pack installs on your computer. This new icon has command line parameters that set up gmax specifically for MSTS model creation, you must use it.

Here is the link for the Train Simulator gamepack:

Post back if you have problems but please provide as much information as you can to make it easier for those who can assist you.

I am having another problem trying to put the texture on the chassis of this loco.
I follow the instructions exactly, in the tutorial where is asks to...

"...and draw a box within the limits of the chassis. The side polygones are now selected indicated by their red edges. The small arrows show the direction of the normals."

when I try to draw the box on the side of the shape it just moves the shape and distorts is instead of drawing the box as it is ment to.
