I hope I haven't breached forum rules on posting.

It appears that he rode off the road on a right hand bend, although riding slowly, travelled about 20 metres along the grass before the bike hit a tree stump catapulting him off. The bike apparently landed on his head breaking his neck.

He was found about 5-1/2 hours later.

Whether or not he had a diabetic blackout or problem we won't know until after the autopsy tomorrow.

Sorry to hear Ron. My condolances to you and the family.

I worked with Lee a few times at Springwood and called the box when he was on quite a few times.

Sad to hear of the departure of a fellow rail and bike enthusiast, no one deserves to die, espeacially from a bike stack, were all kids at heart, regards Bob,

That's terrible news, I'm so sorry to hear it. Best wishes to those out there who knew him, I didn't, and it seems those of us who didn't know him missed out.

Regards,
Trent Nicholson.

Ron,

May I express my deepest condolences to you and your family for your loss. I am quite shocked from this news and still trying to deal with it having lost a good mate Crying or Very sad

All,

Having known Bucko for a few years now, he was the most genuine top bloke you could ever meet. I recall his appearence to the January 2006 Railpage Australia™ Drinks outing, and also when he met up with us on a 3801 tour that came to Orange, he showed us all what a great character he was from his enthusiasm for life and his sense of humour.

Memorable was our arrival into Orange with him awaiting us with a bag of Oranges, later used for photos. He was also kind enough to show us all into the now defunct Western Rail Control Centre at Orange, where he was formerly positioned. Most memorable however was his warmth and his spontaneous sense of fun. Having last spoken to him not long ago, we planned to have met up in Newcastle in due course over a beer. Sadly, this won't be happening Crying or Very sad

I console that Bucko ended his life doing what he loved, riding motorbikes, something he will continue to do as he embarks on the great Motorcycle Journey in the sky. He'll always be remembered for all the laughs and anecdotes he shared to us.

All the best Lee, my friend, keep on riding!

Cheers

Ron, I can only add my own - very inadequate - condolences to the many fine and sincere things others have said before me. But I would like to also say "thank you" to you. To take the time to come and let us know, and to do so in your time of grief, is a special thing. If there's anything - anything - you or your loved ones need, you know where to find us. To lose a loved one is awful - to lose a child is something I cannot even begin to fathom. We can't come with you on your road Ron, but we do offer all the support we can.

Fair winds and following seas to you, Bucko. Vale.

Having only just found out of the news of "Bucko's" passing, I am in utter shock.

I only met Lee on a couple of occasions, I found him to be an incredibley kind hearted, friendly and humourous bloke.

Ron, I am truly sorry to here about your tragic loss.

May God bless you and your family during this understandably difficult period.

Bucko, may you Rest in Peace mate.

Ron, I can only add to what everyone else has said. I was lucky enough to meet him at the Drunks night back in '06, and he was certainly a diamond in the rough.

Wishing you and your family the best through this tough period.

It is moments like these, that remind us all of the gift we all have called life, and how the things we cherish the most can be taken from us within a breath !

Hopefully you are able to console yourself, knowing he left us enjoying life to the fullest and not leaving stones upon his journey of life unturned.

Thanks all for your kind words.

We picked up Lee's personal effects from the police in Tumbarumba yesterday and the Albury morgue today.

We were also able to see Lee at the morgue. That was hard as I have never seen a dead person before. I'm glad we did. He looked so peaceful and just like he was sleeping with a smirk on his face - as if he was going to spring up and say "Fooled you!" Those who know him will know the smirk!

We found out that his neck hadn't been broken so we still don't know the cause of death. We will have to wait for the results of the autopsy to be made available. We can only assume he had a diabetic event which caused him the black out and he never recovered.

I kissed his his forehead goodbye. It helped with closure. The funeral will be held next week. A biker friend of his who is a Baptist minister will officiate. At least the funeral won't be presided over by someone who doesn't know him and who would wax on lyrically about someone he doesn't know.

Please forgive me for my posts. I hope they don't seem ghoulish or soppy. It has helped me come to terms with his death. We still expect him to walk in to the house at any time.
