Unfortunately allegedly last night VL41 was attacked by mindless vandals whilst stabled in the bank sidings at Dudley Street, (awaiting crew training), a second hand report at hand also indicated the cowardly gutless wrenches who where so intent on causing unwanted and pure vandalism of public property when apprehended by security guard on patrol in the area rendered him to require hospitalization. (Ie gang belted him senseless) ((real tough )).
I hope the do gooders of society that admire graffiti vandals as artists, feel good as they have caused bodily harm in the pursuit of they're goal - to tag VL 41 - the sooner the law adopts a New York Style Zero tolerance to graffiti the better, and safer Melbourne will be.
Lets hope the police catch these crazy morons who realistically have no value on human life or property at all.

I was wondering what it was doing in the wash road today; bastard vandals, they ought to be shot; more for what they reportedly did to the security guard!

Well, on the positive side of things, they do look attractive. They'll no doubt be an excellent multiple unit with an on-board snack bar.
What's the limit on number of intermediate carriages?

Your confusing graffiti artists with taggers - seemingly a common misconception on this site
Taggers are generally hated by all, particularly by the former.

Who really cares what the diffrence is. At the end of the day if its a small tag or a 3 Car train length mural. Its still graffti regardless. Trust me cleaning 12 Cars after these F***wits have completly covered all 12 cars from top to bottem is now fun. I know from experiance
May 2008
Autumn, Cold and Wet. The Sprinters settle in with the Stony Point Line. The 1st Mulhouse Tram from France begin testing along Route 96. Overall a busy photographic month with Gunzel trips to Corio and Lara on the Geelong Line, Ballarat on the Western Line and Castlemaine and Kyneton on the Bendigo Line

Dump your rage somewhere else
There is a big difference - I've never seen an artist 'attack' a PT vehicle

Both forms are crime - though I see where you are coming from.
"Tags" are just that - random crap from people, usually teenagers identifying that they have been at one spot.
Where as the "artists" are the ones that do murals etc.
I've got no sympathy for them though - they should practice their art in sanctioned locations, not on objects which are required for the day to day use of the general public.

Of which I have not seen - murals are stylised tags
Most art is within sanctioned locations - laneways etc. encouraged by council
It just grates to hear one comparing artists with these thugs
Why would an artist attack a person?

OT, but I wish muralists would understand the colour scheme or livery of a train is SOMEONE ELSE'S work of art and does not appreciate it being overpainted, just as the muralists themselves claim they don't want their graffiti overpainted.
Remember when that guy was caught at Lalor/Epping - the one from Qld - he managed to put on the whole Aspergers/bad childhood/bit slow type rubbish.
One minute clever enough to work out how to get down from Qld and get into a train shed and paint trains, next minute too fragile to even talk to the police with mummy and mouthpiece representing him.
If you need to get in touch, drop a comment at the Transport Textbook or on my blog.

I couldn't agree more
The Vinelander, from Melbourne to Mildura was Victoria's only overnight sleeping car train which was launched 8/8/1972.
Ballan, the best town, on the best railway line, in the best state, of the best country in the World.
Longreach, Qld here we come The old pioneering town will never be the same.

Saudi Araba= Hands removed =Never do it again.
Will send a very clear message to these guys very quickly.

So, are you suggesting:
Australia = Make 'em ride on the train = Never do it again.

In principle I'm not sure there's any limit, although if there is an answer to this question I'd be interested in it as well.
I assume they'll tell you 2 end cars plus 4 intermediate cars = 6 cars, the standard station length, and knowing how risk-averse they are, they'll say that's the limit.
Also in principle, unless you want the 160km/h capability, you are probably better off with a N + say 10 cars being 500 tonnes including payload should be able to be easily trailed on the flatter lines like Geelong.
If you need to get in touch, drop a comment at the Transport Textbook or on my blog.

Thanks, that has pretty much answered my q.
