Many buses from Oakleigh also require zone 2 ticket.

As for what public transport should serve Monash Uni - I'm still in favour of the Huntingdale-Rowville elevated railway via Wellington Road.
At first I thought that a light rail route along Wellington Road then on to North Road over to Brighton was the way to go but after being in the East quite a bit lately I fully agree with the elevated rail branch to Monash and beyond.

Actually I think such a line is going to be needed in the East within 10 years to stop the South Eastern nightmare from imploding.

Of course for this to be feasible...a certain tunnel and duplication would be required first. Smile

I don't think elevated is necessary for much of the alignment. A cutting would be better visually, and probably cheaper.

There is plenty of room the in the median for a cutting, that probably would only require sloped retaining walls for much of the alignment. Depending on the alignment, some could be done almost at grade with sound/safety barriers installed.

In Paris, there are sections of the RER which run down the middle of major streets, almost at grade. With relatively short sound barriers, you can barely hear them.

Many of the smaller crossings could be removed. I counted about 12 crossings between Huntingdale and the Dandenong creek that are necessary.

All in all, I think this would be a much better outcome economically and visually than a fully elevated link.

Yeah, a cutting would be much better - elevated isn't even realistic at the eatern end
