Does anybody know what time oil trains come through, and what spots in the Fyshwick area would be a good observation spot?
Thanks

The oily comes in early (between 2 and 4am) and leaves about 1730 on tuesdays and thursdays, and saturdays when required. Ipswich st and Newcastle street bridges are fairly good publically accessable locations. It is also possible to see the shunt at Shell from Ipswich st.

I just saw the train go thru, with 8050 and an X class up front. No shunt at Shell tho.
Theres a good spot at the back of Bing Lee and Nick Scarli, where you can park and watch, right next to the track!

8050 and the X pulled up the old main from canberra station (after a run around) at 5am this morning and stopped just past the shell depot... from then I imagine they shunted the old cars out and the new cars in...
I happened to be driving back from teh airport at 5am just in time to hear those beasts roar to a halt just behind the CSR depot on the other side of the line from Hardley Normals.
