thats a pity i was planning to test out before my top things to do before i hit 21 lol,
Why cant the service still remain rather than cease operation, im sure it will be sad sight to see so make the most of while its running most of locals and tourists will no longer be able to enjoy the scenic avonvalley, maybe yet ARHS could restore the old prossies and run a lunch special to toodyay to give other rail buffs who havent ridden on the original prospector train???
Sure wouldnt mind riding the old girls again to relive my first ever ride on the prospector back in 1996 lol

This is really sad. For so long now I have been saying to myself and my wife we should really go on the SOTW. We kept on talking about and never getting around to making the booking and doing it. Now it is too late and we won't get that chance at all.
I have learnt a lesson from this....

Dont worry Node - you can still support the group that really needs your dollar and book yourself on the HVTR Etmilyn Restaurant train - the original and still the best.

The Etmilyn is cetainly a good experience but could not be compared to the SOTW, its like day and night.

The wooden cars belong to the ARHS (WA) or whatever they call themselves now.
I don't know who owns the steel cars. I thought the HRGA originally belonged to the ARHS but the other steel cars were purchased from G&W.
The observation would be useful to GSR on the new Southern Spirit for their "Platinum" class.

The DD, EI, HRGA & AFB all belong to SSRS, plus the small ex ARG powercar

M636C | M636C the steel cars are owned by Coote were part of SSRS sale. The cars could become 1 crew cars, 2 sold to another buyer, 3 kept as corporate train [very unlikely], 4 scrapped [unlikely]. Your quess is a good as mine.

Hold on...
The website says "Last service for 2008 will be Saturday Evening Dinner 31.5.08.".
Maybe we shouldn't write it off altogether just yet.
It also says all remaining trips have been booked out.
There is certainly no big announcement that the service is about to be stopped forever.

I thought they would run the Sunday service aswell, Sad to see it go, there was a article in the West Australia today (Saturdays) about 3 or 4 pages in.

I have been on the Etmilyn train 3 times. I enjoyed it but I don't think it would have been quite the same as the SOTW. I really want to take the prospector to Kalgoorlie. Keep promising myself to do it and now I am going to stop talking about it and do it!
