Because they are frightened of Fyshwick shenanigans.
Shouldn't you be asking this the the NSW or ACT forum?

Well, what's actually implied is obviously "why is there no rail passenger service Melbourne to Canberra". This is partly due to the track configuration at Goulburn.

A connecting Sydney or Melbourne bound CountryStink service would probably make some sense I suppose; that's if the passenger numbers would warrant it.

There is. Two daily services with connecting buses from Albury.
Two services on Saturdays and and one on Sundays.
Quite well priced, too, I might add.

Ahh, the good old days with the composite Canberra car attached to the 'Spirit
Pity I was too young to have travelled on it.
Mike, in Longreach, where every day is well over 30c
The Vinelander, from Melbourne to Mildura was Victoria's only overnight sleeping car train which was launched 8/8/1972.
Ballan, the best town, on the best railway line, in the best state, of the best country in the World.
Longreach, Qld here we come The old pioneering town will never be the same.

It is to ensure that Canberra remains isolated from the realities of life in the real world outside the ACT.
Sorry, I couldn't help it

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Reality has been omitted for clarity.
Why is it that there are so many in high places who prefer activity to achievement?

Because I can pay Tiger Airways $49.95 to take me there from Melbourne, and it only takes an hour.

Some sudanese immigrants bashed the railways at Noble Park and stole it.
People who talk out their asre usually have bad breath.

It's a pity that clearly wording a question so it can be understood as the user intended seems to be too too hard for a lot of people nowadays
