I remember the reliability of the Z's and ZA's and single Z,s hauling 31 loaded log wagons plus Van on the Bell bay Line then the railway was taken over by the Commonwealth.
I also remember H Locos hauling 30 high sided CCC's between Cullenswood and Fingal.

Sounds like fun back in the log train era there Dennis. Well, the Zs are over 30 years old now, there motors are worn out a tad.

Does anyone really know the price of a brand new locomotive motor? Say the Ruston-Paxman, same as the English Electric motors? I reckon, the Z/ZAs should recive a very heavy rebuild, use the latest Ruston-Paxman enviro friendly donk, ad some computer control package and they will run for another 30 years. Oh, perhaps the ZP/ZR should have the same deal too?
