Sometimes i've seen C'town all to Glenfield then Wolli Creek then the usual.
There is an odd one in the night from the City via Granville stopping the usual pattern to Liverpool then Ingleburn and Campbelltown only. There was some weird patterns in the old East Hills timetables as well (next post though, gotta find the timetable).

AND yes that was a CityRail service. Canberra passengers were Booked Seats. The train was the combination of The Canberra Express and The Southern Highlands Express. | Apologises for my error. That service did not stop at Campbelltown
It ran as: Sydney Terminal, Strathfield (pick up only), Liverpool (pick up only), MACARTHUR thence all to CANBERRA.
I have severely reprimanded myself and docked my pay.
Gee wait a minute I ain't got a job ATM so that was a cheap penalty

I started a thread about weird stopping patterns a year or so ago. What prompted me was the 422pm Central to Hornsby service which stops all stations from Burwood to Hornsby except Cheltenham and Normanhurst. So the mighty metropolis of Denistone doesn't miss out! |
Another one with that pattern about 30mins later.
Here or there

That weekend one your talking about Belford is the 16.44 at Central to Wollongong from Bondi stops all stations to Waterfall than Thirroul and Wollongong doesn't stop at Helensburgh and the 1.59 is a 4G not 8T

Yeah, that's the one.
Anyone know anything about it? What's the patronage after Waterfall?

Under the 2004 timetable services between Campbelltown - East Hills - City had 32 different stopping patterns

That is a good example with what is wrong with Cityrail.
People who talk out their asre usually have bad breath.

It's a similar thing in the 2000 timetable as well (counted around 1 , whilst the 1997 has very little different patterns for the whole week day.
In the 2000 one, some odd ones were:
- Macarthur, Campbelltown, all to Bexley North, Wolli Creek, International, all to the City Circle.
- Campbelltown, Lumeah, Minto, Ingleburn, Holsworthy, Padstow, Riverwood, Bardwell Park, Wolli Creek, all to City Circle.
- East Hills, all to Bardwell Park, Wolli Creek, all to City Circle. (weird as stations between East Hills had Bardwell Park had 4-6tph during weekdays, Turella only 2)
- Turella, all to City Circle via Airport. (4tph on weekends only, occasional on weekdays)

yeah, I've heard of the last one, I somewhat recall being on a Turella terminating service.
Is there a turnback there?

No turnback, they just used to terminate on the local lines. I think it was on the down local but maybe wrong... (6 minute turnarounds according to TT).

I thought that last one was Central-Turella-Central via Airport on weekends. I remember the run numbers were the same as aircraft types: example 737A, 747B

Sorry, a typo, my bad.
Only to Central on the weekend. Some of the weekday ones extend to the City Circle.

I used to catch that one from Redfern when I was at Sydney Uni. It was first stop Lidcombe, from where I'd dash across onto platform 3 for a train that terminated there and went back to Bankstown.
