Is this tag not working anymore, or is it just my brain? Have tried several times over in the photo comp thread, but no success.

You used a link to the web page, not the direct link to the image on the right hand side. It's all fixed now. Smile

You did [img]path/to/image[/img][bigimg][/bigimg]. The correct way is [bigimg]path/to/image[/bigimg]

Michael: Why have a [bigimg] tag at all? Why not make the [img] tag do the same thing, that way people don't have to choose which tag to use?

I did that originally, and that's what this thread is about. People objected to it.

Without re-reading the thread (because I can't be bothered at this time of night) what you did originally was to make the [img] tags open the pics with Lightbox. One issue with that was that when the [img] tag was wrapped in a [url] tag, clicking the image wouldn't open the url only the image.

What I guess I'm proposing is that the [img] tag always resize the pic, the you need some way to determine if the [img] tag is wrapped in a [url] tag and then open the url rather than the original image.

It's just that some use the [img] tag when they should be using the [bigimg] tag and this would obviate that.

What we really need is an automatic way of resizing images displayed in a forum to a maximum size. I would be happy with just 640 pixels wide. But without having to click anywhere - that should simpy happen.

If the underlying image is wider then clicking on the image should open the big image.

The original intent was right - stopping people from posting humungous images into the forums, which apart from meaning it's impossible to see the whole image, screws up reading of the posts - but the method of implementation wasn't right.

I'm not certain there's any easy way to do this, mind...
