The Blayney Group, a specialist food wholesaler representing major brands throughout central western NSW, is seeking to hire 100 extra staff.

The wholesaling, warehousing and logistics company in Blayney that was started by current MD George Tanos as a single ice cream van in 1975, is about to launch a recruitment drive to hire up to 100 extra staff for its new cold store warehouse as part of a $2.7 million expansion.

Mr Tanos says the expansion is being driven by a jump in global demand for logistics facilities, especially for produce that's grown in certain parts of the world seasonally and then need to be stored in large volumes.

"We're now seeing products that we are warehousing and freezing for other parts of the world," Mr Tanos told the ABC.

A new siding was installed say 2 or 3 years ago on the Cowra branch, but I do not remember what for Exclamation

This siding was developed by a Mr Tanos, presumably the same Mr Tanos as mentioned above. The development cost $100m.

See item dated 2003:

Could this be the siding in that case?

No the big fridge does not have a siding , it is on the sydney side of blayney.
The siding off the Cowra branch is Friskies.

Ther has been talk of a siding for the big fridge, but nothing has happened.

Cheers

This is the Purina/Friskies siding in the middle. Can't see $100 million there!
Main West on the left, Demondrille line on the right.

Looking towards the plant.

I heard this siding was no longer used?

A cold store in Blayney? Perfect place for it. Of course in winter you'd have to keep it locked to stop the locals from trying to get inside, out of the cold.

& that would be any time from around the beginning of March to end December.

Went out to Cowra a week before Christmas some many years ago, Sydney was 105 on the old scale. got to Bathurst & no problems at around 1000pm. filled up with petrol & set sail towards Blayney.

Closer we got the colder it got. Heater in car not working, as we left Blayney we had to stop & light a fire, to warm up, & get extra clothes out to continue. Other side of Carcoar & the temp started upwards & off with the extras.

Dawn at Cowra with breakfast at the cafe & shorts were very comfortable.

Blayney ranks with around 4 other places in NSW that I wonder if they ever get much of a summer.
