Bing,

I have an email here which I will quote from but maintain the employee involved.

Quote:
The Roseworthy line is Dormant not closed. Dormant means we are able to run train services if required within 14 days notice, Currently there is no demand for traffic on this line but this could change

Simple, clear, concise, factual.

And with more spin than my washing machine.

There has been no train on the Roseworthy line for over 12 months now - or as close to it. It was no secret in the industry that if GWA had had their own way they were ready to walk away from Roseworthy in late 2006, before moving what little they did of the 2006/07 harvest. Only pressure from the grain industry caused them to change their minds.

Bing

bingley hall,
emails are what you make of them as an individual.
The information about roseworthy was posted to me by a Property manager from the Rail company concerned, with explaination on some other subjects as well.
I have been communicating with this person for over 12 months and have always found him to be helpful and factual.
I passed on the information to witsend when it was forwarded to me.
If you consider it to be spin, like your washing machine that is your perogative.
The line has not been officially closed by the South Australian Government as yet. And GWA has not announed that they are no longer wanting to use it.

Wilfy,

It comes down to semantics.

I have PM'd witsend and will also forward that reply on to you.

I suggest you read rouseabouts posts in this thread

http://www.railpage.com.au/f-t11341725.htm

which are a more detailed description of the current situation in regard to Roseworthy rather than the fairy floss being put out by GWA.

Wilfy,

How's the Barossa rail campaign coming along ? The last I heard you were involved in doing public surveys, or something like that.

Last I heard Wilfy was generating hot air. Perhaps he sould run for parliment, as he would be in good company.

2001,

The survey is still going, with replies coming in every week.

The big picture is that our survey instigated the inquiry which was tabled in Parliament in June which in turn has the inquiry asking for submissions from all who want to submit a submission so they can be tabled at the enqiry.

Yep there is a Parlimentary inquiry, so submit so it can make a recomendation that will trigger the next Parlimentary inquiry, so that inquiry can then make a submission to the inquiry following that one Rolling Eyes

Doesn't the Royal Commission usually slot somewhere in between the 5th and 7th parlimentary inquiries? Confused

574M,
As you can see there is not a lot of enthusiasm either.

Is a shame really cause I think SA is on the cusp of major change in Railways.

*shakes head*

Wilfy, you have said you lived here in Adelaide for a time, yet there seems to be something you didn't experience back then, that your seeing here.........

It's called the Good Ole' South Aussie sense of humour.
It is something a bit unique to SA and never understood in the East Cool

I think it's far more amusing that our Mall's got balls, not that long ago some overseas mates came to see them and were annoyed to find they'd been removed *for polishing*...

ahem, anyway.

What Wilfy does not understand is that SA has probably had MORE inquiries and Royal Commissions and Standing Committees on railways than (I'd wager) any other state. The grand result of all of them with the exception of Mr Webb arriving has been zilcho.
