Just letting you know the Family First motion for an full parliamentary inquiry into SA's passenger rail network succeeded last night 4/6. A few Railpage Australia™ people were there to listen - thanks.

It will look at:
* Restoring passenger rail to the Barossa
* Restoring rail to Hills and Mt Barker
* Reconstruction of the Northfield Line
* An extension to the Tonsley line to go to Flinders Uni & hospital and then to meet up with the Coast to Vines Trail (old Willunga Line), to be rebuilt to Seaford & Aldinga using the old bridge over the Onkaparinga River rather than the new bridge (which cost $51.7m).
* Restoring regional passenger rail services.

If anyone has submissions for the inquiry, please send them c/o Dennis Hood, Family First, Parliament House, North Tce, Adelaide 5000; or fax 82310695 & we will make sure they get before the committee.

Meanwhile the Roseworthy line closes with up to 120,000t of grain now going by road and not a peep out of you, proving that this is nothing but cheap populist vote buying nonsense.

After hearing Dennis Hood on ABC radio a few weeks ago talking about this, I'm quite worried given he was advocating reinstating services to country areas by making all lines (with specific reference to the Adelaide-Wolseley and Adelaide-Pt Augusta sections) broad gauge!

Perhaps "Family" First should stick to what they know best.... divisive right wing politics.

bingley hall,

Just so that you are aware there is a group that is looking at the possibility of having Railway services returned to Roseworthy, Riverton, Burra, Freeling and Balaklava.

I will let you know the name of the group and the people involved as soon as information is forwarded to me.

Regards,

Wilfy 2007

Bing, I thought you would have known all the cash in rail was in passenger services! None of this rock and seed stuff.

Bing,

I have an email here which I will quote from but maintain the employee involved.

Quote:
The Roseworthy line is Dormant not closed. Dormant means we are able to run train services if required within 14 days notice, Currently there is no demand for traffic on this line but this could change
.

Simple, clear, concise, factual.

And with more spin than my washing machine.

There has been no train on the Roseworthy line for over 12 months now - or as close to it. It was no secret in the industry that if GWA had had their own way they were ready to walk away from Roseworthy in late 2006, before moving what little they did of the 2006/07 harvest. Only pressure from the grain industry caused them to change their minds.

Oh Greg you are just so funny. Laughing Laughing

Not content with just days ago falsely accusing a forum member with trespass in another thread, you now come trolling over here sticking your nose into subjects you know nothing about.

The e-mail referred to is nothing more than company spin. Calling it 'fact' is almost as sad as your presence in this thread.

This shows the danger of politicising rail, as I have long argued. You end up with people like them.

That's why I cherish the idea that Ruddy boy is busy removing Australian politics and replacing it with a technocratic bureaucracy. Read thepipingshrike.blogspot.com if you want more details.

The sooner interest group politics is removed from this country, the better.

Has it? If you say so. On the other hand it could just be the weather or that junior soccer season is now in full swing.

You make a valid point there. Juvenile references to 60's pop songs are a perhaps a bit too obscure for less enlightened and humourless souls like yourself. But hey, who needs All Bran when we have prats around like you to give us the sh1ts?
