Trains tend to run over lots of animals out here in north western Queensland. Sometimes within hours you will see something eating or evidence of something eating road kill. Kangaroos, cattle, dingos and feral pigs are common victims and generally will dissapear within days leaving a pile of bones and skin.

What I would like to know is why nothing seems to eat camels???
Even feral pigs won't touch them. There is currently one beside the line west of Cloncurry that was hit a few weeks ago and nothing (except the flies) is touching it!! I thought at least the pigs would hoe in.

Does anyone have any idea why this is so??? and does this mean my aspirations for exporting camel meat to Afghanistan are over Rolling Eyes

I've eaten camel schnitzels before ... there's nothing wrong with it at all.

I know that camel piss will stop any other animal from drinking water that's been contaminated ... maybe it's something like that? Something rather disgusting putting off other animals?

Who doesn't eat camel?

They commonly stick bits of camel into frozen "meat" pies...

More sauce, please.

Tourists eat it. They reckons its great.

I've had it a couple of times, doesn't taste like chicken.

Reckon we should be eating more of the stuff, it'd help the local economy and reduce the impact on the land.

Seeing the weathers a bit crook (10 degrees and raining) may do a camel stew.

Ever had a camel breath on you???
If you have, you would know why nothing will clean up the dead ones.
They would have to be the worst smelling creature on this planet.
Dreadful things, they are.
Regards and respect.

One of the Camel Farms in Alice Springs, well 90km south of there, have Camel Burgers, they are great.

I can tell you the steak in the Middle East does not taste like beef, then again, I don't recall seeing any cattle over there. Lots of camels but.
