Hi all,

I was just wondering what is happening with C501 and when will it return to service. I know it had a fire in the number 4 traction motor. Last I heard was that the 'B' end bogie had been removed. When I saw it last weekend I noticed the 'A' end bogie had been removed and the loco was sitting on freight bogies.

Anyone know whats happening maybe new wheels sets?

Cheers,

Test run due this week.

If all is OK Loco will be going on long term lease to El Zorro to bank grain trains from Vic to South Australia.

I thought the relationship between PN and SRHC prevented the loco from being leased to other operators?

El Zorro need loco's, pac nat don't need loco's at the moment and they are building new ones anyway. Also El Zorro have quite a fe BG loco's from them anyway.

And since when has Pacific National helped out a competitor in any way, other than when they have been forced to?

The SRHC loco's on hire to EZ have no affiliation with PN, C501 does, that's the difference.

If that was the case, all the stored locomotives at South Dynon would be on lease to El Zorro which they arent. PN wont even allow El Zorro to use Nth Geelong Yard.

Is North Geelong Yard still controlled by PN rather than V/Line network access?

Thats is what im told. Thats why the train has to sit out at Lara when it misses the path. Wouldnt it make sense to keep going into Geelong Yard to wait line instead of sitting out at Lara?

Hi all, just had word that C501 is out on a test trip from Seymour to Wallan with TL154. lets home all goes well. I wouldn't mind seeing the old girl heading back through the Adelaide hills.

Cheers,

Andrew McGregor

Perhaps the agreement with Pacnat has lapsed? I'm sure we will find out soon enough.
