There are some people in this forum who seem to take delight in pointlessly having a go at others for posting previously aired topics. If you feel so strongly about it, answer in the positive and do not whinge about answering what you consider a previously answered question. If you do not like it, do not post! Easy!

The arrogance in this place is unbelievable, there a few of you who, who have had a go at the rare young kid kid who has entered here. To those and you know who you are, get over it.

Is any of this actually relevant to the Melbourne suburban forum. The lounge would be the best place for your rant.

I'm one of those kids. The thing is you just ignore the abuse and clash of arguments. If you don't like them then don't reply.

One person starts a thing and then it is 'stacks on'. Fun, fun, fun.

to be quite honest, I've never experienced a board anything like it.

Everytime I post I cringe for the inevitable barrage of sarcasm and plain rudeness that is forthcoming. Sad

and its not as though I've ever posted anything inflammatory or controversial either.

I think that you just have to ignore it all.

I have to say, one thing I can't stand is people replying to messages and all they have to say is a comment on their spelling or grammer. There are proberly forums for people like you. Reply with your thoughts on the post or the issue, not with a grade.

Thank you people, I'm glad you agree. Now all I have to do is mention a train name, lets say "7M" and someone will go and tell me that he is wasting his time replying to me, tell me that search is my friend and I will sit here surprised as to why he told me that when he clearly voluntarily wasted his time telling me that.

You forgot one category: people who burst in here fresh off the street and proceed to tell us everything that's wrong with the place, and how to run it, because after all, they know best.

I'm on the record here as not liking post counts. I still hold to that, mostly - you can make five informative and thoughtful posts, or ten thousand pieces of bilge. However, I'm starting to see some little value in them now - it's amazing how many of the people who "know best" are very recent newcomers.

Some of you might think of me as arrogant. That's up to you - but if you do a search on my name from the early days, you will see that I trod softly for quite a long time. I was in somebody else's house, after all. And that is manners. Now, I have a small piece of ownership in this collective site, and I will use it. I will especially use it to point out the mouthbreathers who fly in here, put their feet on the table, grind cigarette ash into the carpet, help themselves to the liquor cabinet, and change the TV channel without asking - and then turn around with a "butter wouldn't melt" visage and give the regulars a ticking off re manners. Ex-fugun-cuse me? Metaphorically, that is what most of you in this thread are doing.

You gotta earn your stripes first. I did.

Humphrey! We're leaving!

The normal rules of common courtesy obviously don't apply to some people you find on the net!

I can only recommend treating them with the courtesy they don't themselves use, reply if appropriate, don't reply if discretion decrees.

Post scriptum: I like spelling and grammar to be of the highest standard, but I don't make a big issue of it, as the value of each thread would rarely be defined by the written English skills of the poster...you know how it goes! Razz
