I heard this rumour before you posted it, given your recent workings with 707ops I assumed you may have been involved with the group in some way and took your post as some form of truth behind the rumour.
So apologies on that, but the comment still stands given what they are doing to T413.

I merely put it out there. And I didn't have to wait long for a reaction.
And no, I am not a member of 707. |
As above, heard rumour before...made an assumption.

If losing sight of why they started is helping other groups out instead of being so far up their own backsides that no other group exists, I would rather have them loose their way. |
Um, okay then. Helping out other groups involves liveries how? I am all for co-operation between groups, a stronger force as one than seperated I reckon.
| henty_302 wrote: |
And they have run 707 on at least 3 occasions in the past 12 months. 413 is out all the time, making them viable, As I'm sure you would be aware of. |
I was not aware all 3 occasions were trips/tours. As far as I knew the most recent trip to Bacchus Marsh was the only one that actually carried passengers...the other 2 being driver training runs. So if I'm wrong there then I apologise.

It was said a page or so back, if you have nothing constructive to add to the topic, then why bother posting at all? Your only here to stir the pot, its not working...go night night now.

Dark red with silver speed whiskers and black lining??
Hold on, I can find exactly the colour scheme for that - original off a G8 as well!!
And they have the original steps and pilots similar to those on D1 before VR hacked it around. Even has the D1 couplers.

Sorry you're being ignored here. Its a heavy thread. You might have to go back to the start and read it all the way through.
Let us know how you get on, then.

That sure sounds like "Authentic Heritage" to me.
I reckon "The Boys" will like that. |
Well, its simple isn't it sir? Some of us appreciate both the historic value of the locomotive, and also the heritage value of the livery it wears. Maybe it does get a bit rivet nazi at times...but the way I see it. Its comforting to know there are younger people around that have enough passion for their rail heritage to bother arguing the point in a forum. There may be hope for preservation yet.
Then others just furiously flog the log over the choo choo, and then theres also the goontwats that just enjoy thinking they know everything.
You fall in to one of these categories going by this forum and I wish you all the best with your endeavors in your hobby.
Anyway back on topic, 413's pilot is badz0rs!!!1111010101

Red and silver livery for T413? Is this to match the carriages I assume? Well done 707ops...you have lost sight of what the group was started for, and your ruining your fleet beacuse of that. I suppose when you only run 1 trip every 3 years it doesn't matter much...no-one will see it |
Ohh how easily you bite. No one from 707 has said that it is going red and silver. No one from 707 that I'm aware of even visits this site, because of dribble like this...
I merely put it out there. And I didn't have to wait long for a reaction. | That pretty much answers my previous question about the red and silver furphy (if it is indeed one).
I have no problem with some kind of new livery, providing it looks okay. This was my main gripe with S313 in the Santa Fe knock-off. It looked horrid. I don't mind it's current livery as it looks pretty good (don't like the "Mars" light though), and it is/was wearing it for a purpose, I also know that the intention is there to repaint it into the VR livery at a future time - here's where I get onto my next point.
What I don't like is groups making their own 'versions' of the VR livery, as it certainly mis-represents our railway heritage. I don't like it when a group scrawls it's name down the side of the loco, or adds their initials into the drumhead instead of 'VR', or paints chevrons or other unecessary paintwork onto the loco. A small cabside sticker is all that is needed to tell people who cares for the loco - it may also entice the groups to work together more often or hire each other's equipment (this is only my opinion).
| Henty_302 wrote: | | And no, I am not a member of 707. | Neither am I. I have nothing against the group at all. I just don't like what they have done to T413. I think I should go on record as saying that.

The help they have given to heaesville and maldon and LRG (aka frank-N-K) and a couple of private owners over the last few years that I know of is priceless.... | I don't think any one group is being pompous here. I know that all groups do help each other out when it is needed, whether supplying parts; locomotives; tools or even extra volunteers.
I'll also go on record and say that all opinions expressed here are my own, and do not represent any group that I have mentioned in this thread. I don't want people to play the "groups against groups" type argument here. It doesn't do anyone any good. I am however, entitled to express my personal opinion, and will do so.

If this is sarcasmm..I can live without !
I did read all through this ...and got no clear idea..hence I asked a simple question. I would have thought there was a simple answer. Or can more than open person/body/organisation lay claim to ownership??

T413 is owned by Victrack and is under the care of 707 Operations. I have no idea about the demise of the T413 group. W241 and W244 were also included in the allocation transfer.

Thankyou..
When its said...in the care of 707...is there some constraint or custodial conditions they must abide by ? Or does someone own it now in a normal way with the normal rights of determination ?
